Bad news for those on the Northern flight path

hate the planes
grrrr

and please don't anyone say you knew they were there when you moved - yes we did but it is getting worse every year

CountessDracula · 05/09/2006 20:08

Actually I think you just become less tolerant to them

They never used to bother me but I hate them now too

agreee - had lunch in Isleworth with friends the other day - they are slightly closer to actual path than us - and it was the first time in a long time when we had to stop talking when they were overhead........every 90 seconds!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 05/09/2006 20:13

hmm - but it doens't say it's stopping completely (althought the Government could decide to scrap it) just there'll be a 10 weeks (which yes I know is a lot when you've got planes flying over constantly) break while they do work on the that area.

I have an Aunty is Kew and she always makes me laugh - complains constantly about the planes.............but flies to Australis 2 or 3 times a year, as well as numerous other places around the world !

SoupDragon · 05/09/2006 20:15

Well, you knew they were there when you moved.

CountessDracula · 05/09/2006 20:20

sod off you scaley tosspot who rattled your cage?

OP posts:
Imafairy · 05/09/2006 21:56

But you know what? I STILL miss the sound of Concorde.......I've lived under the flight path in various places for the past 10 years, and used to love looking up to see Concorde fly overhead.....and you DEFINTELY had to stop talking when that happened!

CountessDracula · 05/09/2006 22:04

freak

I flicked a v sign at the last ever concorde

OP posts:
Imafairy · 05/09/2006 22:08

DS1 was only 8 weeks old when Concorde last flew over, and I wheeled him into the garden for each of them, so at least he can say he saw one!

dinny · 05/09/2006 22:14

what does living under flight path do in terms of property prices? big effect?

Imafairy · 05/09/2006 22:16

Don't think so TBH - look at the places - Putney, Barnes, Kew, Richmond - some of the highest property prices in London (says she, preening!)

WellaWellaWellaHuh · 05/09/2006 23:35

Yes airport movements at Heathrow have increased year on year, but there were over 400000 in 2000 so what do you expect?
Also aircraft are quieter now than ever before.

There are so many places to live in this country and you choose the few square miles on the flight path to one of the world's busiest airports?
Please!

DominiConnor · 06/09/2006 00:55

It has surprised me for a while that if that many locals really hate the airport why they don't do some serious civil disobediance ?
Nothing very criminal, road blocking, annoying the directors of BA & BAA at home, or clogging airport infrastructure.
I guess 30 cars driving really slowly would jam it big time.
Many people have unused phone minutes on their mobiles. It's not that hard to get internal BA/BAA phone numbers and ring them up for a chat. A few thousand people doing that would be a terrible thing.

MissChief · 06/09/2006 09:18

oh, you poor sods! Feel for you, they're horrible things at the best of times, leave alone all day.
Promise not to feel too smug as have just moved far, far away from LHR - and we have peace!

CountessDracula · 06/09/2006 09:42

WWWH well you are a nice person aren't you?
What about people who have lived there for years?

OP posts:
MissChief · 06/09/2006 09:46

few square miles?? - well, rather more than that and it's a prime area for good schools, lovely countryside, proxmity to Lon, great transport connections (well, obviously) so millions of people choose/have to live there..

We were assured by all locals/estate agents that we'd get used to the noise, well I never did and I'm sure many people move into the area hoping that they won't notice after a while, for some this may be true but many more are driven half-mad by it, I swear, esp the early morning flights.

Tutter · 06/09/2006 09:53

oh feck arse

thanks CD

i'm pretty much mind made up on moving out of the area now anyway

house should be on the market in a week or so's time

such a shame as i love the area in every other way

ds woke this morning at 5:08. guess when the first plane of the day went over...?

Tutter · 06/09/2006 10:04

ps well done on not being smug - as i guess you're under the southern flight path if you're in sw14

we are directly - as in icicle-of-pee-in-the-eye directly - under the northern path

hana · 06/09/2006 10:20

dh just confirmed that we're not under northern runway
but still
and wwwh- please! not v nice really to say that

CountessDracula · 06/09/2006 10:20

Yes I am under the southern - no doubt they will decide to repair the other runway soon too so we will get the same

Good luck selling

I keep thinking of moving too but the upheaval too bad and such good schools here
