Have many hours of an evening free to do a correspondence/OU type course.

Am struggling to come up with what type of course to do (money is an issue too).

I want to eventually train to be a midwife, so something geared towards that (ie healthcare type stuff) would probably be sensible. BUT I dont know of how much benefit it would be, ultimately (they aer more expensive too).

But, the more "frivolous" type topics (that interest me also) are cheaper.

Help me decided please!

OOh yeah a Doula course would be really good!

Oooh Doula course looks good, thanks FF.

ABM definitely worth doing I think.

Do you still think I could do a diploma in History of Art as well though?

You're like me, i did a year of nursing, dropped out and now doing graphic design. I've tried 16 a levels too!

I think if you're interested in Art and the health proffesions an Art or Play therapist is always a good one.

LOL FF! I always wanted to "be something" but could never decide what. Its only since I had my DD (then my DS) that I decided I wanted to be a midwife.

I was being a little flippant about History of Art, but, I do feel like as well as working my way towards my (finally) chosen career, I want to learn something that I didnt do at school/college, but that is interesting and worthwhile, iykwim?

(I tried to do A'levels twice - once in 6th form and dropped out, once at college and dropped out )

Ah, thanks Sue. Weekend tutorials are fine. But any study could only be done whilst I was at work.....

Most 'mature' students at my uni doing midwifery have done the accsess course at college.

My friend doing midwifery who is 19 has 3 A'Levels.

So they will help you directly to get into midwifery.
