We are going on the 16th April for a week. It's a Haven site, whole holiday only cost 137.00 as it was a Daily Express offer thingy.
Only thing is, that the park/area was actually our third choice, and the brochure doesn't seem to give much info on what there is to do in the local area.

Any ideas on gratefully recieved

I have nothing concrete to say as I only went there when I was a teenager for one day (to do a surf life-saving course), but if it helps at all it was beautiful, fantastic beach and lots of hunky lifeguards. I would have thought there's be plenty to do nearby, the West Country is pretty big on farm parks with lots of kids' activities. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time, honest

perranporth has fantastic sand dunes to roll down. My great Auntie lived there and I used to visit as a little girl. Warning the beach has lifeguards for a reason! though not as dangerous as others and I think it has blue flag award for being very clean. We had a flying visit to StAustell about 8 years ago, and took dd1 then aged 2 to Dairyland and had a great time. There's oddles and doodles to do but not many adventure parks try here tourist info

We used to go there as kids. Huge beach with lovely sand. Fairly small town. All depends what you are into. Its only a few miles from Newquay so thats fairly easy to get to. There's a World in Miniature at Goonhavern which is just a mile or two up the road. Personally if I was going (and we are going to St Ives with 3 yo DS and unborn baby who will be about 6 weeks in June) I would drag them over to the Eden Project which is near St Austell. Also not sure how far it is to Seal Sanctuary near Gweek.

At one end of the beach there are sand dunes and at the other rock pools and arches and things including a sea water swimming pool.

Hope some of this helps. And enjoy your holiday.

Sorry nutty - have only just seen this thread. I live a bit further down from there and Perranporth's quite a small place but very nice. Its got a gorgeous (huge) beach, with a nice pub/restaurant right on the beach, and another nice pub about 2 mins walk from the beach.

Will you have a car? If so, you'll be able to get to loads of nice places within about half an hour.

If you want to, you can contact me through the contact another talker, and I'll send you all the leaflets for everything to do.

Forgot to say, can also pick you up some maps from the tourist office and send them too if you want.

Ok, I'm really not trying to put endless posts on here!!! I've just remembered that the local paper always has loads of vouchers for local attractions so I'll save them for you if you like.

We went to Porthtowan pre-children (about 8 years ago if I remember rightly), but it was cr*p so we spent most of our time in Perranporth and St Agnes, which were much, much nicer. Can't say what to do with children, but remember a pub called the Driftwood that we spent a lot of time in.
Sorry that's not much help, but I'd go back again.

nutty - are you still coming down? I can post you stuff but obviously need a couple of days to do it.

You'll have a great time though, the weathers getting fantastic down here.

nutcracker · 05/04/2004 10:29

Oh sorry Wobblyknicks we are not going any more. The cheque bounced due to mix up at the bank, so the holiday was cancelled.
Now you have to tell me that it keeps raining and i wouldn't have wanted to go anyway

oh nutty - I'm so sorry!!!

Being absolutely serious here, a few clouds have just rolled over (this minute) and the sun's gone in so it's obviously threatening to be bad weather again. And of course, most of Cornwall is radioactive and you'd have been attacked by some mental patients so its probably better you stay where you are!!

You'd only come back as a 3-headed, in-bred, werewolf that glows in the dark
