Bought DD2 some Clarks shoes in the sale, size 4E, she had been measured as a 4G but was assured by the sales assostant that they were fine, well a week later they kept coming undone, i assumed this was DD2 being her normal cheeky 14 month old self and thought nothing of it, but over the past 3 weeks or so i've realised that they were coming undone all by themselves because her foot is too big for them, took them and her back to clarks this morning and whilst the guy there couldn't apologise enough, his hands were tied because i couldn't find my reciept, i'm really cross that i was sold a pair of clarks shoes that were totally the wrong size. we left with a brand new pair of size 4G shoes this morning which fit beautifully.

sorry just wanted a rant about clarks shoes

We took dd for a fitting the other week and they also tried to sell us shoes which were a few letters different from what they'd measured her as and also they insisted she was at the 'cruising shoes' stage even though this wasn't what their leaflet implied - curiously enough they only had cruising shoes in size 3....

Glad we didn't get any, now - I'm not sure I would trust them any more.

well thats made my mind up about clarks, am taking dd for her first shoes in a few weeks (leaving it as late as I can) and i thought about going to clarks but not anymore.

Took my 2 into Clarks last week to have them measured and then couldn't find anything I liked in their sizes! The woman was relly off with me like I had wasted her time - silly old moo!

Can I give a big hoooooray for Clarks. My dd1 has very awkward feet (narrow heel, H fitting, has club foot from birth so needs a particular style - high front, but soft, dead flat).
My local clarks shop took and hour to fit her, with the manageress helping out - they asked if I minded using it as a training opportunity for their new member of staff as she was sooooo awkward - for some reason their electronic fitting thing always measures her too small.
She now has shoes and trainers (yes I balk at buying trainers form Clarks at over £20 a go but the doc said I had to) which will do for a while - but I am going to woolies for trainers for ds and dd2!

After a young member of staff measured my dd feet last year i bought a pair of doodles, she kept falling over, when looked more closely i found i could bend the toes of shoes over.

So now i only have her feet measured by an older member of staff. then go to next as i have found they have much better fit and are cheaper.

Why do they asked if you have seen anything that you like as they never have them in the size you need.

I did ask once in my local clarks why they never have the shoes you want and was told that they only stock 1 pair of each size.

I have had nothing but trouble with my local Clarks shop in Maidstone, fitting issues, unfriendly staff that you have to ask why on earth would they consider working with children! But I am one of the lucky ones we also have an independent shop that sells Clarks and Startrite. You are never too much trouble! and the shop is wonderful for little ones including trains running around the celling. I would reccomend The Golden Boot to anyone in the Maidstone area, especially if your child is like my little one. The one that hates being measured and preceeds to scream the house down. The staff I have come accross are all very patient try their best to make you realise that it is a normal occasion. On the one occasion that I did have a query about the fitting they could do no more to reassure me and even softened the shoes for me.

My ds got measured after about 4 months as being one size DOWN from his existing Clarks shoes. They wouldn't have it that this was ridiculous so we walked away with the pair they fitted him for.

A matter of days later we were in there getting a re-fit and refund as they really did not fit.

He was a whole teo sizes bigger than they'd measured him.

I now take in paper cut outs of their feet and do it myself. Not ideal but they don't seem to go in for measuring at all here in France.

I go to local one as it's out of town, but why would they only have black shoes for 3 year old girls? - dd only wants pink of course! Also find they start off cheerful but get grumpy quite quickly if you keep rejecting their rubbish choices. And some of the styles are really old fashioned. Having said that, once we've found a pair of pink shoes that have fit we've always been happy with the quality.
