I just rang to see how they were all getting on and he said "Did you change DD1's nappy this morning?' I said 'errr no, why are you asking me that?' and he said 'well you changed DD2's' to which I replied 'well that's becasue it was full of poo and needed to be done that second so I did it as soon as I lifted her out of her cot'. So he just presumed I'd done DD1's and got her dressed. It's now nearly 2pom and that nappy went on last night at 7pm!

What a absolute .....idiot.

Ohhhhhh, for God's sake.

Sorry, feel really quite annoyed with him and had to let off some steam.

Will go and put the kettle on and realise it's not the end of the world in a moment.

yikes sore bum alert

merrily · 29/08/2006 14:20

can he not recognise a full nappy? My DD's hang down round her knees after a few hours!! oh well, never mind - look on the bright side - hopefully he will learn from this and it won't happen again!

charliecat · 29/08/2006 14:21

OMG thomcat
I had this when i went into hospital to have dd2.
DD1 arrived at the hospital with dp at 3 in the afternoon, it was her birthday, she was dressed like a tramp, her hair hadnt been brushed and he hadnt gave her anything to eat. She looked bloody ill.
I said You need to feed her FFS and he took her to Mcdonalds. I got home at 7pm that night ...gave birth at 10am.
Where are you?

desperateSCOUSEwife · 29/08/2006 14:21

I would kick his arse

charliecat · 29/08/2006 14:22

My neighbour brought his dd1 into my house for me to change her nappy when his wife went in to have her DS
He didnt ever change 1 nappy. No wonder they are divorcing now.

compo · 29/08/2006 14:25

When my sister had her second child they left their first dd with her Grandad. He didn't change her nappy for the whole day (he'd never done it beofre and refused to be shown how). Luckily they were all home by the evening!! What would he have done if he'd had to stay the night?!!

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 14:27

She won't have pooed, she lives with constipation and has been this weekend so it'll only be wet, thank god for small mercies!

I'm at work, he's childminding.

He had them for 2 days last week as well.

Took them to do Lottie's hydrotherapy at the hospital. Didn't listen to me and waited in totally wrong part of hospital. Didn't take money for car park so got a ticket and forgot to take a towel for Lottie! DD2 was dressed in the most ridiculous outfit, but that didn't really matter, other than it was cold out and she had s/slvs on!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, honestly!

I just said 'stiop talking to me, and go and change her nappy NOW' and hung up on him.

Not the end of the world but FGS!
I am cross.

He so better have done some housework and have some idea of dinner for us tonight.

I'm still feeling rough from a big day out on Sunday and am not in the mood for him to be slack and useless.

Awww man

kittywits · 29/08/2006 14:29

My dp has never changed a nappy. He always said he never would and he never has.
Saying that if he was ever left on his own with a child in nappies (which he never has been)then he would change them. So far in the 8 years we have had various children he has still never had cause to change a nappy. It doesn't bother me really. He does other stuff that I don't want to do.
Contentious issue I know.

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 14:30

I'm in a grumpy mood anyway and am so, so cross.
Trying to chill a bit though.
Must go and boil that kettle.

Kittywits is there any reason behind it? Just imagine YOU saying, well im not going to change our babies nappys..it just wouldnt frigging happen would it?

kittywits · 29/08/2006 14:40

Charliecat I don't think there's a particular reason. He sees it as a woman's role I guess!
When we first talked about having kids he very clearly said he didn't do nappies. I had a choice to have kids with him or not. I chose to.
Of course I would rather he did it every now and again. As I said he does other stuff which means I don't stress about finances, house probs etc.
He's pretty traditional in his thinking and he's about as far away from being a new man as you could get!

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 14:42

He just rang to say she had asked to be taken to the park so he said well you have to get dressed but she's refusing to let him dress her so he said could she go in her pj's.
I couldn't give a toss tbh, but still don't know whether tolaught or cry.

Oh and he said her nappy was as dry as a bone which is why he presumed I'd changed it.

Hmmmmm.

Not so cross anymore anyway.
Can hear he's trying and they are having fun so that's all that really matters at the end of the day.

Have to giggle at the though of her in the swings in her pj's with wild unbrushed hair and toast crumbs round her mouth still!

My mum left dd in a nappy all day long when dh and I had a day out together in London. We got back just before their bedtime and I couldn't believe the size of the nappy hanging round her knees. I asked her why she hadn't been changed and she said that they'd all been having such a nice time she didn't want to ruin it by stopping to change her nappy. Hmmm.

Raggydoll · 29/08/2006 15:45

my dh has the 2 lo's once a week after nursery because i work late. my dad has to come over to help and everything is a double act. when they change a poo nappy they do it together, one whips it away and the other wipes clean - i think they even argue over who will have to wipe lol...

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 15:48

He just rang, again, to say he had every intention of taking them to the park and as I was chatting I could hear DD2 scream. The cat has taken his first swipe at her and she has a big scratch across her nose

He also just said he hadn't eaten so was going to order a pizza now and therefore probably won't want tea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's been told not to order pizza, to make himself something from the full fridge or full cupboards and to have my dinner thought of and planned and under control in some shape or form when I get in!

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 16:02

PMSL - you know that!

Bless, I love that he doesn't find it too easy, makes him think I'm really, really wonderful and he's in awe of me
