I know its boring, am just getting ideas. Was horrifed when I sent a vague e-mail to a photographer asking for some info and he e-mailed me back saying he was booked up for my propsed wedding date (Oct 2008!) already so I might start seriously looking into some other stuff.

I know big white weddings are a bit cheesy but I really want one and I want it to be lovely and have only been to two weddings in my life and have no close friends who are married so nobody to give me advice. Other than my mum who is stuck in 1981 I think!

What transport did you use to get you from home to church/church to reception etc?
What were your colours

Did you buy your bridesmaid dresses or have them made? They seem v.expensive even from places like Debenhams.
What flowers did you have? How did you chose?
How many bridesmaids did you have?

And finally which place for my reception
Judges or Headlam Hall

What transport did you use to get you from home to church/church to reception etc? er... it was a car of some sort

What were your colours - didn't really do that, had very pale, almost cream coloured pink roses

Did you buy your bridesmaid dresses or have them made? just had a flowergirl and got her dress at Selfridges, cost about 40 pounds

What flowers did you have? How did you chose? see above, I love roses and that colour so...

How many bridesmaids did you have? none, just a flower girl.

I like headlam better - looks quite flambardsy

Transport: BIL's dad's sabb convertible
Co,ours: I worse a gunmetal coat and dress embroidered with vany, the Bridesmaid wore navy
Dresses were regular dresses from regular shops- East, I think
Flowers: Found a magnificent florist in a loal market who did me yellow gerbera arrangement and tulips for my bridesmaid. She even drove for miles to get the exact shade of yellow rose for my bouquet! bridesmaid / guests of honour wore single white lillies in their hair, I had a yellow circlet as I found all the tiaras really uncomfortable.

bridesmaid: I had two but my younger sister dropped out dayus before as she felt too fat- wasn't best impressed LOL!
I also had a best Woman as my best mate didn't fancy the maid bit. Was a great decision, as we were married in a civil wedding (the utterly gorgeous Hornsbury mill in Somerset- full waterfall, water mill museum- perfect!).

Now that was the weddingt hat happned. the one to the ex that got cancelled was a bit more traditional in attire: carriage and horses to the Church (old Somerset village), colour scheme was wedgewood blue and silver, dresses from proper wedding shop- oh what a wasted palava!!!!! LOL

My friend used a helicopter to get from wedding to venue. Looked cheap and overdone, and it was too cold (February) for anyone to stay outside and witness anyway.

Can't comment on thevenues I'm afraid, don't now them and would ahte to base it on the quality of their website designer

LizP has a good point: look at the season when choosing colours, and your outfit. I went for a warm outfit as we married in March (bizarrely was way too hot), and the embroidery on mine determined their outfit colours. In June I would ahve had perhaps sweetpea colours, maybe nice golden colours in autumna nd reds for winter- also helps keep flower costs down, picking what is seasonal. I got my dress in the January sales too, which helped, but that was because I already had chosen a wedding dress in the last few years for the ojne that never happened, also I ahd got PG just after being engaged and I only had 12 weeks from deliveryt o wedding, which wedding shop refused to work with.

White Rolls Royce. Fairly expensive, but looked good for the photos.

What were your colours

We had a spring wedding, so had yellow and white colours to match the spring flowers. Yellow ribbons on invitations and orders of service, yellow rose buttonholes for bridegroom and ushers.

Did you buy your bridesmaid dresses or have them made? They seem v.expensive even from places like Debenhams.

Yes, aren't they expensive? I bought mine from Debenhams but they weren't cheap. Got pageboy outfits from House of Fraser.

What flowers did you have? How did you chose?

We had spring flowers - daffodils, forsythia, white freesias, and yellow roses for my bouquet. If you are getting married in the autumn I really recommend going for seasonal flowers as they will be a lot cheaper and will just look right at that time of year.

I wanted a really small wedding with no bridesmaids, but was overruled by husband and both sets of parents! In the end we had 2 bridesmaids and 2 pageboys (my dh wanted 5 bridesmaids to begin with).

Transport: Horse & Cart for me/dad, vintage car for bridesmaids/mum
Colour: Green
Dresses: had them made (and mine) worked out cheaper and got exactly what i wanted
Flowers: hand-tied mix mainly cream but with the colours of both mums dresses and some corn, bridesmaids posies were just cream with corn - went with MIL to florists and looked through books for basic idea and went from there. Also had centrepeices for tables at reception, a kind of swag on top table and MIL organised lots of little flower things at church too
Bridesmaids: 3 (all my age)
