DD took part in the Transplant Games recently and would like to go again next year. As a team we are trying to raise money so that the competitor and at least one sibling can make the trip for free although we would also like to raise enought for new kit.

So far we have come up with -

car boot sale
sponsored swim - channel distance but in a pool
raising seeds/bulbs for next spring

Any ideas would be appeciated.

hire a hall(brass your case for a charity and you should get it free, charge friends, family neighbours etc an entry fee, have a few raffles (prizes being gifts from local business etc, have a litre bottle of vodka on the floor and have a go at throwing 50p at it closest to it wins the bottle, (recently we made over £40 in vodka one, the bottle was donated too! Also try get someone to do a free buffet for charity of course!

If you are going to do a sponsored event, look into setting up a justgiving page (www.justgiving.com). People can donate over the internet, you get the benefit of giftaid, and anyone who is randomly looking for a charity to donate to may stumble across your page and donate.

Bring and buy sale, craft fair (get the youngsters to make crafty things to sell), ermmm...

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 25/08/2006 13:53

Buy a big box of glow bracelets off Ebay very cheap and sell them at any school fetes, carboots etc. You could make up a tray on straps kind of thing like ice cream ladies at the theatre and potter around accosting people.

try bakerross.co.uk They have fundraising packs you can buy, we have done it for a toddler group. How about collecting recipes and getting them printed up into a book/pamphlet? Maybe theme it as healthy recipes, recipes for kids, recipes from your local area. Both these ideas require an initial outlay but bring in a fair bit of income.

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 25/08/2006 16:23

How about a 'proper' old villagey fete (indoors prob soon) with competitions like best cakes, best miniature tray garden. Ask local shops for prize donations (always very forthcoming I'm told by my PTA friend) and charge door money and competition entry fee to grown ups. Get school music/dance clubs to do performances.
Combine lots of the ideas below.
Other buy-wholesale-sell-normal-price could include health snacks, wholefoods, biscuit mix with instructions, mini Christmas cakes, bouncy balls, giant balloons...

KBear · 25/08/2006 16:29

Christmas Disco/Karoake Night

Talent Show/Stars in their Eyes

Fun Run/Toddle

Pram Race (dolls in the prams for health and safety reasons though ha ha!!).

Fancy Dress Parade - £1 to enter.

Great ideas, please keep them coming. Need more individual ideas, ie something that children or adult can do alone or as a team iyswim

We just organised a treasure hunt round the village for children to complete.
They had to get sponsership first, then a race to see who could do it first. They had a choice of Fairies or Pirates clues. At the end they had drinks and cakes in the park.
Raised about £400. And no outlay really.
It ciuld be done in teams or individually.

Get all the children & parents to fill a small basket with sweets, toys, drink etc at home and then sell them at your for anywhere between £1 -£3 each.
I have also found a great company www.toysforschools.co.uk who supply licensed toys/novelties - disney, bang on the door etc, really cheaply. We boght some china disney mugs for 80p each and sold them for £3.50.
Good luck

Cultivate a friendship with someone who works for one of the banks that does 'matching funding' for charity work (up to 2 or 3 x a year) that their employee does. So if they can claim they did most the organisation for an event, and the event raises £100, that's £200 total to your fund. Barclay's and Lloyds TSB are the 2 banks I think that do this.

Something our school PTA does is hire the local swimming pool for an hour (includes wave machine etc) and then sell family tickets for £5.

Obviously it depends on the cost of hiring the pool but here its a really good fundraiser and, for families, its very cost effective as normally its £3.80 per adult
