if you have your walls re-plastered or part skimmed how long do you have to wait before redecorating

we waited a about 10 days, justto make sure it was totally dry.

Our plasterer told us to do a thin white wash over the entire area first otherwise the new plaster absorbs the moisture of the paint or paste and it won't hol ethe paper/paint

Our Plasterer told us to wait till all damp patches disappeared then give it a couple more days. Also told to coat with watered down white emulsion before painting, and it does work!

AT least 2 weeks.

Gosh, you're right, it is dull!

fairyfly · 25/08/2006 11:47

I shall ask my plasterer lover when he gets home, but im not texting him asking as i am driving him mad with too much time on my hands.

southeastastra · 25/08/2006 11:57

plasterer lover! haha

fairyfly · 26/08/2006 02:43

He said you can do what you want once the plaster has gone pastel pink, once it looks dry it is, he also said if someone said wait two weeks it's to cover their backs, a bit like dry cleaning clothes when there is no need.
