Following on from Cd's announcement to the tax woman!

We once sold a house and waited 6 months to buy another. the cash we made on the house was in the building society for a few days, and I went in to get a cheque for the deposit to give to our solicitors.

I grandlt tossed the cashier my card and said, 'I'd like a cheque for 'large sum' made out to ....' She looked at the card for a second and said

'Sorry dear, that is a Sainbury's Club Card'

She obviously thought I was totaly deranged. That will teach me to be swanky!

and you?

I once travelled a for several hours down to london from up north on a national express coach to meet my parents at heathrow (cos I hadnt seen them for several months as they were living abroad at the time) only to find I had got the wrong day and I couldnt get back to said northern city until the next day as I had been waiting for several hours before I realised my error and there were no buses/trains back as it was too late in the day.

I know someone who claims that having missed his exit on the M25 thought he might as well just keep going. Personally I don't believe anyone is quite that stupid

I quite regularly go the wrong way on the motorway, most i've diven is and hour and a half in the wrong direction before realising. My oldest now always asks me when we get on the motorway if i'm sure i'm going the right way

Turned up for an international flight the day before I was actually meant to travel.

Grabbed a pair of leggings from the clean laundry pile. Two hours later, in the middle of town, a pair of tights began to creep out from one of the legs. I kept tripping on something and wondering what it was. Will teach me to at least shake out clothes before putting them on...

Checked out of a hotel and made it to the airport, couldn't understand why our flight wasn't showing...Check in desk pointed out that we weren't going home until the next day!

No me but my friends stories:

Left handbrake off at petrol station, it rolled away as she went in to pay and completely took out a pump.

But the best one - totally mad: Friend lived across the road from a petrol station. On way home from work one evening, she dropped in for petrol and cigs. After she had paid, she just walked across the road home and left her car at the pump (as she often walked across for cigs).

The next afternoone (!) she was having hysterics to her neighbour saying her car had been stolen, when his eyes strayed across the road and he said "Erm - isn't THAT your car over at the petrol station?"... large !
