In its price bracket it is up with 4 other properties, 2 on a busy road and 1 on a roundabout and the 4th is a couple of doors down that has a really terrible extension, we looked at it 3 years ago when we bought our current house but decided against it. What should we do about the outside? It doesn't help that the estate agent took the photo on bin day so they are full but it looks awful

Agree with everything other posters have said re cars bins & flowers.

Take your own pics, possibly in the afternoon or early morning when the sun comes down the road rather than from behind the house. Try taking it portrait so you see as little of the houses on either side as possible and less pavement, or try at an angle like they did for this one.
Did they take interior photos? If so, why haven't they put them on the web? It makes me suspicious if there are no interior shots - my first thought is 'What are they hiding?'

If you were thinking of painting anyway then go for it - cream like the house above would be best i think.

I don't think it looks bad at all but do agree with getting rid of the car and bins for the photo. If you think it's really hideous why not use internal shots instead?

noonar · 22/08/2006 17:34

how about some internal pics of your best rooms? they are always helpful to would- be purchasers.
tbh, having viewed dozens of places with mum, we only looked at those with internal pics, at first. good luck!

blimey 2 of my school friends lived in your road

If you don't like it, make the estate agents do another one. Or take one yourself and make them use it - you're paying them to market it, so they should be doing their jobs!

FWIW I don't think it looks that bad, but yes, no bins, no car and maybe some plants and sunshine would help! (as everyone has already said much better than me)

MrsBadger, as usual, gives excellent advice. Our picture was taken on the slant and I made them put interior shots up too - we had loads of viewers and it sold on the second day.

what sch MJC? We just got back from B&Q with bits for the front garden TBH Mrs Badger that house is a couple of doors down from me and looks much worse than ours has been on the market for 3.5 years although the bad extension puts people off more than the outside maybe. The colour is also yellow rather than the cream it looks. Your comments have made me think that we definalty need a new photo as I said it looks worse irl.
The interior and size of the inside is much better than the outside.
Also the agents have put the smallest dimensions of the rooms when in fact most put it at the widest point?

Sorry I switch to talking about our house when I say the inside is much nicer than the outside.

it wasn't in Eltham Xena - it was Blackheath High School, many years ago

it's a good road to live in. but make those estate agents work for their fat fee!

Xena · 22/08/2006 17:53

It is nice but I will be glad to get out of Eltham as i've lived here all my live with a small 2 year gap with a flat in lee green
