Because after a conversation with SIL she does, my ds starts school in Sept and it never occurred to me to do this.

Does everyone else do the socks?

I put them in my sons socks last year for Reception but I am not bothereing this time.

hulababy · 21/08/2006 10:19

I hadn't planned to put them in socks TBH. Maybe I should? Or at least in DD's tights?

This is my job for this week - to label everything!

daisy1999 · 21/08/2006 10:19

what a rude title
I don't put them in socks, too much faff.

daisy1999 · 21/08/2006 10:20

I bet she irons underwear

daisy1999 · 21/08/2006 10:21

instead of labels in other clothing I use a laundry pen as most school clothes have a place on the label for a name. I am so lazy.

BudaBabe · 21/08/2006 10:21

Life's too short to label socks!!!!

Labeling everything else is my job for today tho along with a haircut for DS.

Back to school tomorrow!

Northerner · 21/08/2006 10:22

Daisy why is my title rude?

She doesn't iron underwear her ironing lady does and her ironing lady does the labels.

iota · 21/08/2006 10:24

I don't label socks, but I buy ones with a pattern instead of plain grey or black - gives ds1 a chance to recognise them after PE

daisy1999 · 21/08/2006 10:24

northerner I am not going to say the word but there appears to be a piece of male anatomy in your title

JackieNo · 21/08/2006 10:30

You could use the iron-on transfers (esp the 2nd ones down) from easy2name (10% discount for MNers)

Northerner · 21/08/2006 10:31

Oh I see!!!

I will not be sowing a labe onto ds's willy

OP posts:
daisy1999 · 21/08/2006 10:40

oh northerner the curses just keep coming - wash your mouth out woman your obsessed with men's bits

Gingerbear · 21/08/2006 10:43

ROFL @ the typos in your thread title
Worthy of a Cod-oscar?

SoupDragon · 21/08/2006 10:48

why would you?? they're cheap, rarely taken off and if you end up with someone else's by accident does it matter??

WigWamBam · 21/08/2006 10:51

Good grief, life's too short! And as dd is a grub and her socks always end up looking like bits of grey rag within a couple of weeks it's a complete waste of time. They're cheap to replace if she loses them, and I end up replacing them every couple of months anyway ... so can't really see the point.

MarsLady · 21/08/2006 11:03

DS1 often comes home with some other boy's socks, all nicely labelled. lol So in answer to the clean version of the original question.... No! That would only lead to some other mother realising just how rubbish my son is at holding on to his stuff. lol

geekgrrl · 21/08/2006 11:05

I use laundry pen on socks (and everything else for that matter).

LIZS · 21/08/2006 11:05

I do.

rustybear · 21/08/2006 18:30

Will your ds/dd read labels in socks? If not no point.
I used to but gave up after ds came home with 1 long 1 short sock each with a different name - neiher of them his.

chocybickie · 21/08/2006 18:34

decided to label my kids clothes, bags etc today.
i managed one t-shirt before i got bored.
socks?? when do they take socks off? would it be a major problem if they lost one?

mrsdarcy · 21/08/2006 20:06

I bought iron-on labels last year, and at about midnight the night before term started, I ironed a label onto DS2's polyester (bleurghh) tie - at a high temperature . The tie melted onto the iron and the ironing board, destroying all 3, and I had to get to school early on DS2s first day and beg the office for a spare one

LIZS · 21/08/2006 20:11

pe , swimming, dance ...

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 21/08/2006 20:18

Thank God I'm not he only one who couldn't give a toss if a sock goes missing! It may be spoilt, wasteful and consumerist but hey, it's my only vice
