how do you get towels to be 'hotel' fluffy?

is there a trick? (apart from buying very expensive towels)

I'm with Demented too! They go soft anyway after the first "dry".

demented, if you like cardboard towels, you should try some with linen in- they are apparently famed for their abrasive properties! We were given some as a wedding present, and you're not supposed to tumble dry them, I can't remember why! My DH loves these towels, but I yearn for a lovely soft fluffy cotton towel sometimes!
