Is this a hospital bag?

earlgrey · 17/08/2006 08:21

No, it's a holiday for all four of us but for two effing weeks. I can't even remember the last time I (not even we) went away for that long ...

Cant think of what you might forget!! plus unless you are going somewhere really remote you can get most things away!
Camera batteries phone charger. Self catering? Maybe 1st days food?
Clothes.Coats shoes!!!
Towels if needed swimmies?

Need to know where you are going and ages of your kids really.

For instance I have on my list among other things:
potty
fold-up step
15 nappies
2xbucket and spades
2xfootballs
7xdishwasher tabs
1xteatowel
summerweight grobag
bedside guard
travelsickness pills

This is because DD is day trained but not night trained. We are going to France for a fortnight but only the second week is selfcatering and there is a dishwasher in the accommodation.

As you can tell we are not travelling light....

earlgrey · 17/08/2006 09:55

LOL LTH!

Bozza, I'm sorry, I should have said. They're 8 and 6 now. That list would have come in really useful a few years ago! I remember having to hire a roof box for our car when we went to Cornwall, just to accommodate the cartons of SMA! Well, a few other things beside ...

If yu have them, gameboys for the trip....a life saver with mine. Borrow some story tapes/cds for them to listen to.

First aid kit and calpol.

books/toys

towels

plastic bags in case they puke in the car....wet wipes ditto or a wet flanel in a platic bag

LIZS · 17/08/2006 10:11

Where are you going and how are you travelling ? Even abroad you can buy toiletries, plasters etc locally but take a small First Aid kit with familiar bits and pieces such as Nurofen for kids to tied you over. Swimming stuff incl goggles, swim aids, beach towels and even hats for some pools. Enough clothes for about 8 days with a change for evening plus travel wash, or less if you can use a washing machine, lightweight jacket each and one fleece/cardigan.

Get the kids to pack a few books, small games, pencils/paper and favourite cuddlies and be responsible for their own stuff.

CarlK · 17/08/2006 10:14

Try this

Auntymandy · 17/08/2006 10:17

is it really so hard?!

Bozza · 17/08/2006 10:18

Ah I think that has got to be easier for the travelling that a 5 and 2 yo. The 5yo is not much trouble as long as he is dosed up with travel sickness pills. The 2yo is a nightmare.

My 5yo has a CD walkman and DH has compiled him a new CD for the journey, plus he has earlier compilations, Pop Jnr, various story CDs etc. He is a bit of a muso though. Are you flying or driving this time?
