Well actually i already know what is going to be built on it, 50 houses. I need to find out who owns the land, and if poss who will be building the houses.
There are no signs up at all by the land, so no clus there.

Local council? Must have got planning permission

jampot · 14/03/2004 20:57

You can call the local land registry (all contact details on their website) and enquire about the land. They will ask you to submit a form OC1 if the land is registered. You will need a plan (or sketch) of the land and an accurate description of where it is (eg. land coloured pink on the attached plan and situate between number 66 Mumsnet Street and 72 Mumsnet Street) If the land is registered the owner's details will be shown in the proprietorship register, any mortgages/charges will be shown in the charges register. If the land is unregistered you got no chance but it might be worth looking at the planning application at your local Council offices to see who submitted the plans and in what capacity. Good luck.

Aren't you in Sutton Nutcracker?

nutcracker · 14/03/2004 21:01

Yes Jampot i am, but the land in question is in Great Barr, on Booths Farm rd. I think the road may be an unadopted one, does that make a differnce.
If i can find out who will be building them then i would be able to find out how many will be for H/A which would give me a better chance of getting one, before the whole world knows about them.

Most land is registered as jampot said. You will need to do an index map search which will show you the title number, you then apply for office copies from the land registry. That will tell you owns the land - there may be different titles ie: freehold / leasehold.

How do you know about this land Nutcracker? If you know where it is and planning has been granted there should be red A4 size notices on local lampposts etc. That should explain who the planning is on behalf of.

nutcracker · 14/03/2004 22:15

My brother is a postman and all of the walks at work have just been redone and swapped around. The person who has now got that walk has been told that it will increase by 50 houses.
That is how i know.
I'll have to have a good search tommorow.
Thanks for the advice guys
