Would you accept a pushchair that was on the shop floor, for a reduced price ?

We ordered our new LO's pushchair last week, I was told there were none in stock but as soon as one arrived we would be contacted.
John Lewis have just called me to say that the buggy we ordered Mamas and Papas Pliko Quattro Travel system in Dot to Dot, has been discontinued as they have brought out a slightly different model and the price has gone up from £385 to £435 for the new model. However, we could have the pushchair that had been on the shop floor at a reduced price of £345, saving £90 on the new one.
She ran through the spec with me and it is exactly the same, literally identical. I have looked through my 2 mamas and papas books and can see the only different is the new buggy has different wheels, same size just has 5 triangle shaped holes instead of 5 round shaped holes.

I have said I will take the shopfloor one on the proviso there is nothing wrong with it, she has assured me it is immaculate, have never been taken out of the shop etc etc.
What would you do ?

They have just called and said they will only stick at £345. The model that is up on the shop floor is only 3 weeks old, they replaced it 3 weeks ago due to the other one taking a bit of a bashing. Therefore although it is last years model it has only been on the shop floor for 3 weeks so they will only offer 10% off.
They have agreed to £345 so am going to collect at the weekend .

Eidsvold, have you got this exact one ?

You could say you'll finally agree when you have examined it and checked there is nothing amiss. tbh £40 off sounds reasonable for ex-display if nowhere else already has it cheaper than £385 and it is all there and in perfect condition. They should factor in the fact that it is obsolete now though, since they cannot reorder the same one, and perhaps give you some more on top. However it may pay to shop around as I've already found the new one at less than £400 here for example.

no mine is something totally different ( bought out here in Aus) No wear and tear visible and had a toddler seat put on it too to carry dd1 when she was not walking. Now will be wheeled out for no3 when they arrive next march. Was not a hi-tec expensive one but it was a bargain.

We got the buggy

Went to pay for it yesterday and gave it a full inspection and it is absolutely immaculate - no-one would know it hadn't just come out of a box, am so pleased.
Turns out the reason they got it replaced was because someone stole the last one - just put their baby in it and walked out of the shop
