Parent and childparking.................................wheres your child????????????????

Why do people insist on parking in spaces allowing easy access to your baby, when they have no baby with them?
While at asda today a bloke parked in the last p+c space, with no child!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is made worse by the fact that the first time i took ds out on my own (again to asda) i have to walk from the far end of the car park in the rain. When i got back to my car someone had parked so close i was unable to open the door where his car seat was.
So soon after giving birth i was climbing over seats with a new baby to get him into the car.
I had to ring dh at work cos i could not stop crying, saying i never wanted to go out on my own ever again!
Lucky for me he has a 0-4 car seat not an infant carrier, i would never have got that in without moving the car out of the space, what would i have done with ds while doing this?

So for anybody who has been there

And for anybody parking here with no child or a child that is old enough not to need the extra space !!!!!!!!!!!

I know this will get someones back up but i dont care as i think somethings need to be said.

Why does a 12 year old child need the extra room, and why does a bloke on his own, to me its just lazy!!!!!!

I would love to know what other people think, or am i a missery.

Blondilocks · 13/08/2006 22:24

I complained about a staff member in Tesco for the second time yesterday - same staff member - in a disabled space (I saw her move her car and did check for sticker). This time I asked for a manager and pointed her out in person and told him to tell her to move it right now and that I had complained about her doing it before. He did. Was in a vile mood btw. Will avoid her till for the next couple of weeks, or maybe go to Waitrose.

I do think parking other end of car park is a great idea, one that i will do from now on, dont know why i did not think of that one.

blondilocks, i really didnt have much choice. no disabled bays, and needed the room to get peter and machinary out at the hospital for training. didnt work, came back and someone had parked right next to passenger side.

Jimjams2 · 13/08/2006 22:43

That sounds a nightmare. COuld you drop him off outside the door, then park. Is there someone who could accompany him if you did that (i'm assuming someone needs to be with him in case he stops!)

littlepiggie · 13/08/2006 22:44

dont blame you then, thats not through been lazy, that to have access to your car, i would have done the same.

nope JJ, cant leave him out of earshot/eyesight at any time. if i have to go out the front with the front door closed i take the baby monitor with me. its driving me mad!

Jimjams2 · 13/08/2006 22:48

thought that might be the case- can you take one of your helpers with you? the whole thing sounds a nightmare, and frankly impossible.,

How many hours did they give you in the end?

misdee · 13/08/2006 22:51

hopfully i wont have to take him to any more training sessions on my own.

atm we get 3 hours per day except on wednesday when we get 7hours. when the kids go back to school we will be getting 6-10hours a day and 4hours on saturdays.

Jimjams2 · 13/08/2006 22:53

3 hours a day???? You should get more. You're getting about the same as me (school holidays I get 15 hours a week, term time 8), but you need it more......

Those of you who have disabled badges does it wind you up to see people who have the badge but use it when not ness i.e. visiting the person in hospital who the badge was issued because of iyswim?

misdee · 13/08/2006 22:59

ah yes but xena, occasionally i have put peters badge up at the hos[pital even though he wasnt with me when i park up, but i only do that when i was collecting him to bring him home. otherwise it was normal parking and paying the fees.

some people do seem to think you can use the badge if doing something for the disabled person, i was told several times i could use it as i was visiting, i had to correct them each time.

Jimjams2 · 13/08/2006 23:00

they're confusing it with a motability car. You can use those if doing something for the disabled person.

onlyjoking9329 · 13/08/2006 23:01

this subject always gets to me, itry to get a blue badge parking space, which seems fair given that we have 3 blue badges, but often there are no spaces, i have tried parking well away from the store but then someone always parks right next to me, thing is my three have autism/learning disabilities and have no sense of danger or spacial awareness they just open the door full blast hitting any car, i would prefer to use the p&t parking as they are next to the shop and we don't have to cross traffic to get into the store.

Xena · 13/08/2006 23:03

Of course if you are collecting you should be using it But if there where other people using them for visiting because they should think how they would feel if when they needed it and someone else had used it

Freckle · 13/08/2006 23:04

You may think that someone with a 12 yo might not need a p&t space, but, if you've seen the way 12 yo's fling open the car door, you'd understand why the extra space is needed - to avoid claims for damage to neighbouring cars!

Every time I park, I can be heard shouting very loudly "mind that car when you open the door".

Also, p&t, etc. spaces are a fairly recent phenomenon. People managed perfectly well before they were introduced. I think I'd find something a little more important to get het up about. If they didn't exist (and they are merely a courtesy on the part of the supermarket with an eye to getting the big shoppers into their store), what would you do?

Xena · 13/08/2006 23:07

I used to work in a resturant that had a disabled bay right outside (glass fronted) and used to daily see people park there (with blue badges) jump out of the car and pop of to the shops and come back

onlyjoking9329 · 13/08/2006 23:14

the pizza hut near us has two disabled bays and they used to be used for the staff....til i complained. macdonalds often tell people to park in the disabled bays whilst they wait for there orders if the waiting bays are full.

Xena · 13/08/2006 23:15

sorry ranting and spoiling your thread

littlepiggie · 14/08/2006 14:12

But they are ther freckle, and both disabled and p+t are being used by people to lazy to walk the extra 30 seconds to another space, some that is the first place they go. And as far as a 12 year old child, they should know better!
