dya remember my panic -a nd "i'm alling social services " rant about a year ago?

my son is not aking piano lessons from a friend - taking his girlfriend to the ......THEATRE! IN OCTOBER

and spend this eening doing copper etching.

he went to a MINI rally ( the car...not a little rally!) he bought himself new gear with is own wages from his JOB that he has with an APPRENTICESHIP and as we got out of the car on way back from town ....who should be ther

the druggie mate

so i went inside and left him to it. he came in and said " i told him i don't want any...better things tospend mi money on"

his GF doesn't like getting drunk so he is never drunk, not smokes a joint in 10 months, works hard, got accepted into college

not a lot will see this at this time of night. which is good cos some will think i am up mi own arse.

but wow. piano, copper etching and theatre ....all in one conversation this very evening. its amazing. i hope the twins are thsi fab.

Didn't see your original post last year but from what you have written this sounds like an amazing turn around. You must be so thrilled. I wish you all the very best. Good for you for leaving your son to it with the 'druggie mate', must have been tempting to hang around to make sure all was well!

By the way you so do not sound up your own arse! You sound proud and so you should, of yourself and your son!

not sure what to reply but wow, brilliant...didn't you chuck him in the shed at one point...I've had my share of teen troubles..not drugs, but some horrible stuff and for the time being seem to be out the other side too with relationships in tact (and a lovely grandson)

What a star, eh? Like ma, like boy and all that. The twins will be just as fab, mark my words.

poopy · 15/08/2006 05:57

Fab mum = fab son IMO custy .... (ghosty here btw)
How could he be anything BUT a fantastic, well rounded young chap

Mirage · 15/08/2006 07:56

Wow-what a turnaround.I do remember your previous thread,but didn't contribute as I have no experience (mine are 15months & 3).

Well done-sounds like he is a strong minded young man & you must have done a great job bringing him up!

tigermoth · 15/08/2006 08:21

Brilliant! He's making some good choices, isn't he and sounds like he's really liking life at the moment, which always helps, I think. It sounds he's really found himself now he's not shackled by school. Do you think his girlfriend has had something to do with this turnaround?

So nice for the twins to have him to look up to, as well. I would love to meet them one day, as I said to you before And no, not up your arse to praise him - its nice to show everyone things can get better and it's not all gloom and doom with teens. It's exactly the sort of message I need to see right now, having a fast approaching teen of my own.

Raggydoll · 15/08/2006 09:15

i don't know what to say but i did read your thread a few years back so i know its a huge turnaround... kids can surprise you can't they... no wonder you are proud.

Tortington · 15/08/2006 23:41

That's brilliant you are right to be proud. it sounds like he's growing up to be a lovely, sensible young man (did I just say young man?..shit i'm old!).

Have entered the teen era 59 minutes ago - 17.08.06 (oooh weird) so any advice gratefully received.

Custy, he sounds like a fab young man. You must be so proud of him.
