thanks everyone for your concern,it really hit me hard this morning when i woke up and realised it wasn't a bad dream,i'm not religious but i've prayed for those bastards to be found, yesterday i cried but today i'm so angry and if it was al quaida i'm also angry with that little bastard with the hitler moustache that's ruling my country

Relieved that everyone here seems to have avoided tragedy. My dad is in Madrid, close to the scene but unhurt. I think he has someone looking out for him as he walked away from the bombings in Istanbul too.

PipBeckett · 12/03/2004 14:05

It's so awful to see what's happening in Madrid and I'm glad that everyone's love ones are okay. I can't help thinking that the UK is a big target for terrorists and that perhaps they are saving something big for us. We have lived with the IRA for many years but somehow this threat seems so much more scary. So many people that I've spoke to agree that we're just waiting for the big one.

handlemecarefully · 12/03/2004 18:14

Whymummy, Senorapostrophe and Marialuisa,

I am relieved that you are not directly affected (i.e. loved ones) but so so sorry for what has happened.

Its a truly terrible atrocity, and I am sure it must be affecting you guys quite badly.

Love to you all

Re French and UK - totally paranoid person has just booked Eurodisney on Eurostar. That's got to be the next thing. Should I cancel and just relinquish our deposit????

whymummy · 12/03/2004 20:01

hugs to you too marialuisa
thanks handlemecarefully
thanks tinker i bought the independent today for the first time and read that article i also read this
"i saw a baby torn to bits" by another passenger on the train, and an emergency doctor tells "on many bodies we could hear the person's mobile phones ringing"

stay safe everyone

Tinker · 12/03/2004 20:04

Read that too whymummy - horrific stuff. But it'll never stop me wanting to go back to Spain, loved the place, loved the people.

whymummy · 12/03/2004 20:09

marthamoo I was like you, pregnant with ds twins on Sept11 and was laid up watching the horror unfold. I wondered at the time what kind of world my babies would be born into and was struck by the thought that the World Trade Centres would mean something completely different to them.

This Madrid thing is horrific, I was watching TVe on the marches in Spain and it was so heart-rending! I heard one woman say she saw a baby ripped apart and that there were children on the train going to school - God help those responsible for this.

Last I heard ETA were still denying but one reporter said they are denying because they didn't think the bomb would be so devastating...

We should live our lives as best we can. As soon as we start living in fear the terrorists have won. The most pathetic thing is - what does Al Quaida (if it is them) hope to achieve? Certainly not peace for the Palestinians.

whymummy · 13/03/2004 22:28

5 have been arrested,3 moroccans and 2 indians i burst into tears when i heard, lots of mixed emotions, the world has obviously lost the war on terror, thanks bush, blair and aznar
