Why is mumsnet advertising a plastic surgery clinic?

I see in the ad bar at the top Ultralase is advertising with a slogan about 'how good do you feel about your body?' Then a suggestion you can get an aesthetic solution.

How is this in the spirit of supporting women? Just making them feel expensive and unnecessary surgery is the only way to feel good about yourself. Shame on mumsnet HQ.

it's only for laser eye treatment not boob jobs.

Quootiepie · 10/08/2006 23:33

well... they get money to host ads dont they? We dont have to read them

tortoise · 10/08/2006 23:34

Ultralase vision correction it says.

fuzzywuzzy · 10/08/2006 23:34

perhaps MN have taken note the number of women on MN who are considering boob jobs???? Have you never read the threads with women considering it???

TheDullWitch · 10/08/2006 23:35

this is the link from the ad here

Ultralase do all sorts, from eye surgery to hair removal to scar reduction....

MamaMaiasaura · 10/08/2006 23:36

.. sometimes aesthic solutions can help, although psychological side is mst important. I know for a fact that I would like a boob reduction when I have finished having babies.. a tummy tuck would be good too..

tortoise · 10/08/2006 23:36

this is what i get when i click on it.

MamaMaiasaura · 10/08/2006 23:37

ohh botox for my wrinkly forehead too..

alexsmilitantmum · 10/08/2006 23:37

gosh! just followed the link-well yes i agree then.unless they are just grabbing all the ads they can to swell the coffers in case they have to spend a lot of money on legal fees.

TheDullWitch · 10/08/2006 23:38

Wait for the ad which asks you to mark your body out of 5! My link comes from that not the laser wing of it s dodgy doc operation.

MrsSpoon · 10/08/2006 23:39

Hmmm, wonder how much they would charge for a abdominoplasty?

tortoise · 10/08/2006 23:39

I don't see a problem with it.If you see the ad and your not happy with your body you may look into it.If your happy then it won't effect you!

BadHair · 10/08/2006 23:41

Following recent legal events I guess MN are doing their best to fill up the coffers. Can't say I blame them - after all we're all intelligent adults who can choose what ads we investigate and which ones we ignore.

JustineMumsnet · 10/08/2006 23:43

plse see new thread on site stuff re ads

melissasmummy · 11/08/2006 04:59

But surely part of supporting women is about offering them all the options? Seeing & clicking on that ad could make a difference to some-ones life.

SecondhandRose · 11/08/2006 07:51

The GF thing is all about free speech, what about Mumsnet's free speech to advertise?

well we're all going to have to look our best if we go on a mass Free Mumsnet demo. don't want the media portraying us as a load of sleep-deprived saddos do we?

SoupDragon · 11/08/2006 08:52

Stop whinging and get an ad blocker if you don't like them. I don't see any ads at all.

HappyDaddy · 11/08/2006 12:04

TheDullWitch, why don't you ask Mumsnet? We won't know, would we?
