completely hacked off with Asda particularly its own brand products, I returned mouldy muffins and fishy crisps today and its not the first time i've had stuff thats been off but its the first time i complained. Today i bought toothpaste and opened the box and the tube had been squished and it didn't have the seal on the lid (binned it) they even had out of date crumpets on the shelf and when i complained about that the girl said yes thats the worst dept especially with trading standards!!!!
we have sainsbury/morrison/tesco to choose from now

goto sainsburys ...xx i use asda by the way,,, our closest sainsburys was closed down boo hoo......

Angeliz · 03/08/2006 20:38

Morrisons is the best for meat and organic veg.
Sainsburies is the best for bread and hoe bakery stuff i find.

laneydaye · 03/08/2006 20:40

by the way asda usually give you money off vouchers for crappy stock... so make sure and take them all back (mould aswell)
not that it makes it any better

jamiesam · 03/08/2006 20:42

I should report your Asda to environmental health at the Council - mouldy and out of date food is serious, although I don't know what penalty might be. Friend returned some out of date prawns the other day (think also to an Asda) - got the impression that standards drop during summer time when more regulars/managers are on holiday - might be speculation tho. (Got money back and a £5 voucher in compensation.)

I think I use the supermarket I'm most familiar with - easier to find what you want! Generally shop at tesco, altough I prefer sainsburys as quieter and nicer food, but more expensive.

hairymclary · 03/08/2006 20:43

definitely sainsburys. I used to go to tesco but their fresh fruit and veg is awful and used to go off after a couple of days (always before the best before date too)
their meat is always brown and manky too and they were fined a rather large amount of money a little while back because of it.

spangles · 03/08/2006 20:44

get yourself to Tesco's...sainsburys is nice but a bit pricey.. Morrisons is good too but The isles are staggered so I always lose track of where I am up to

laneydaye · 03/08/2006 20:45

i agree about tesco fruit and veg.... we use organic and its not good from there the 1 time we went we ended up writing off to complain....mind you asda's is not brilliant...

spangles · 03/08/2006 20:49

Ooohh I am shocked at comments about tesco's... I always get the bulk of my shop there, probably coz I used to live very close and it was like my corner shop. That said I do think you get used to shopping in one particular place. Sainsburys never seems to have enough tills open, but Kwik save has to be the worst

hairymclary · 03/08/2006 20:50

see I have not noticed a difference in price between tesco and sainsburys at all.

laneydaye · 03/08/2006 20:51

well im pulling asda down but still go there 2/3 times a week.....

bagpussmice · 03/08/2006 20:51

a worker in my local sainsburys today stacking up fruit and veg aisles was coughing and belching all over the produce. I rang and complained when I got home./... it was disgusting!

hairymclary · 03/08/2006 20:53

well you see the trick is to shop online.
it's so worth the £5 delivery not to have to drag a whingeing toddler round the shop.
Plus sainsburys keep coming late and giving me a £10 voucher for my troubles. i really love them

dmo · 03/08/2006 23:26

used to do tesco online now do asda
free delivery in afternoons
find asda shopping great its quick, easy and food is fresh
only problem is that they pack cooked and raw meat in same bag sometimes
have phoned to complain but falls on deaf ears
