my wedding video came out like it was in negative, and so I wasn't seen properly

still can't face wathcing it and we got married nearly 13yrs ago

mummycan · 31/07/2006 23:43

Wouldn't want a wedding video - and deliberately didn't have one - I hate them!

Sorry - not very useful - I'll get my coat

apronstrings · 31/07/2006 23:47

my cousins had a nice dvd made from photos by their photographer - set to music, nice fade ins and outs to various people. I didn't want a vid at our wedding, but my in lnlaws took there own - unfortunately it stops at the reception with me saying 'turn that f'ing thing off!!!' so classy!!!

Skribble · 31/07/2006 23:55

Have to agree I didn't want a video, photo montage set to music is nice and seems a bit classier. Videos always seem to look cheap with bad sound and crappy dubbed over music.

My BIL did a video for his friend that wanted to send it to relations abroad, he did quite a good job but he has a professional TV crew quality video, he set most of it to music apart from the bit with the vows, other wise you only hear the relations nearest to the recorder babbling away. I think most people look uncomfortable in front of the lense.

If we could do it again DH and I would elope to Las Vegas and be married by Elvis. Our big wedding is my one regret in life (but I'm only 30 so there's plenty of room for more - it was so NOT US! But we had a house to do up and the Argos wedding list was so practical...

compo · 01/08/2006 09:40

I didn't want one but didn't have any choice as FIL bought a new video camera especially

edam · 01/08/2006 09:40

Didn't have one, didn't want one.

Tommy · 01/08/2006 09:42

I had some friend swho had theirs done very profeesionally and he also did an edited higlights version which was about 20 mins long. That was fine to watch but, tbh, a full length show of absolutely everything that went on is, IMO, a bit dull I think.....

MrsBadger · 01/08/2006 09:42

we didn't want one, but two guests happened to tape it 'just in case' we decided we did.

still haven't watched either yet get constant joy from the photos, which is where we put the budget.

Bellie · 01/08/2006 09:43

didn't have an official one, but asked some uncles and cousins to use theirs, and then we 'spliced' them together.
Really happy with the result as we got some really natural footage of all the guests and us, as people were a lot more relaxed as it was people they knew with the camera and didn't feel so intrusive.

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2006 09:45

Didn't have one officially although my uncle filmed most of the ceremony and the speeches and then sent us the tapes.
They are nice to have for a keep sake and only lasts 40 minutes or so

liquidclocks · 01/08/2006 09:57

Didn't want one but my parents filmed one anyway. Actually quite nice now, they didn't do the ceremony as I had a thing about no videos in church but did film the before, getting ready, arrival at church and the guests during reception. Dad did put together a fab phot montage set to music when DS was born which I love and will be asking him to do same for DS2.

juuule · 01/08/2006 10:19

My F-i-l did ours. Unfortunately he didn't know how to work it properly. So when he thought it was off it was on and vice versa. Nice shots of the floor with background conversation One particular piece he is saying to his brother 'here she comes, get ready okay....' then it goes blank where he switches it 'on'.
I Suppose it's one of the more unusual wedding videos.

apronstrings · 01/08/2006 16:50

juule that is so funny!!!

loopyredangel · 01/08/2006 18:15

Thanks for the feedback ladies! I noticed a lot of companies whose videos looked a bit naff, would anyone go for a documentary style video were you get interviewed before hand and have snippets of the build up to the big day, have professional looking credits, and a wedding cam van where guests can step in and send their wishes to you?
We thought this sounded a bit different and we might go for this. What do you guys think, would you go for something that was a little different from the norm?

We do have a video of our wedding in Kenya. The only reason being was that we were on our own, and the parents wanted to see a video. Didn;t have the blessing (which was like a full wedding itself anyway) videoed though.

No cheesy music please! Ours is set to that Bryan Adams song - I hate it and can't hear that song without cringing. We didn't get to choose!

MrsJohnCusack · 01/08/2006 18:19

well I didn't have one

OR SO I THOUGHT

FIL filmed one. It's shit. Most of it shows my MIL crying her eyes out because her baby is being taken away from her - yes, the baby she never comes to see and used as a replacement sounding post for all the friends she doesn't have.

grrr

so, I didn't want that

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 01/08/2006 18:20

Although our video was only a cheap job I'm very glad we have it as the photographer turned out to be a bit naff (well she wasn't but her flat batteries in her camera were.............) so it's the only decent pictures of us in the church.

Also have the music from the wedding to remember (had someone singing during the signing of the register) - which obviously we wouldn't have had if it was only photos.

LeahE · 01/08/2006 19:00

I really didn't want one beforehand but a family member who's a semi-pro videographer wanted to give us one as a wedding present. I am glad in retrospect that we did. I was particularly glad to have the ceremony (with readings) and the speeches.
