Quick Punctuation question - help!

I'm designimg a flyer for a new promotion at work. The headline is to read - HAVE WE GOT NEWS FOR YOU. I think it should be followed by an exclamation mark, but my boss says a question mark. To me a question mark doesn't look right as it's more of a statement than a question. Who is right?

TIA.

both of you i think. why not put ?! ?

spacemonkey · 05/03/2004 10:41

Technically it does need a question mark. I'd go with madgirl's suggestion of putting "?!" at the end

monkeygirl · 05/03/2004 10:41

Technically both are correct but personally I think an exclamation mark would be better as surely it's a statement on this occasion and not a question for everyone to answer...

Oh, can I pick your brains again? Currently, there are bin lorries going round Stockport with 'Stockports recycling. Are you?' written on the side. There should be an apostrophe in Stockport shouldn't there?

zebra · 05/03/2004 19:07

Yes, "Stockports" is short for "Stockport is"

Tinker · 05/03/2004 19:46

Thank you zebra. Knew I was right just wanted second opinion before I email council to point this out

Twink · 05/03/2004 23:05

Yes there should be a ' !

Tinker, many, many years ago I went to Anfield (hangs head in shame) with my best friend and we were very puzzled where we supposed to go in as they had 'BOYS' posted over all the reduced priced turnstiles (Old Trafford had 'JUNIORS'. However when we got home we wrote a letter & got a very quick response assuring us that we were welcome to use the BOYS turnstiles but Liverpool FC would make sure they altered things to make us feel more welcome next time - unfortunately (!) I've not been back since
