No need to use a nappy. The reuseable nappies are used instead of one.

I use both (at the same time) on ds2 - a sort of belt and braces approach sa tehy have to close teh pool for 24 hours and drain it if there's and "accident " in it.

I know this might sound cheap but you can reuse the disposables as long as they aren't soiled. I put them though the washing machine and dry them naturally. I never used to bother, but we go swimming twice a week now.

i would iota but im buying them for the holiday and its fully inclusive holiday with no washing facility unless you count the bath lol

(will come clean first and say that I use washable nappies so you know where I am coming from).

You can buy swim nappies from JoJoMamanBebe and other places. We used a Motherease swim nappy at first but DS has just outgrown it so I got the swim nappy shorts from JJMB. They are like normal shorts with a poly-cotton liner in with very snug elastic.

I think the crux of it is that it doesn't really matter if your child wees in the pool (otherwise they'd ban old people, new mothers, children of any age). It's the poo you need to catch so a swim nappy just needs to contain poo long enough for you to get to the changing rooms. Having said that, the polycotton liner is waterproof enough to not let much wee out anyway.

JJMB do 6 designs as a swim nappy, or swim nappy shorts. Plus 6 more designs as a two peice or one peice for girls. Really cute!

Sorry if this has put people off swimming - but I can't believe the disposables are completely watertight anyway!

I used "Kooshies" reusable ones when my lot were babies. (Reusables were the only type available then). If I remember, you can get them from Mothercare etc.

DD1 did a poo TWICE in them, and both times the nappy contained it so that I was able to go and change her.

Just looked on the Mothercare site - I did use those reusable swim nappies with DD2!

Didn't get them from Mothercare though - got them JojoMaman.

I used the jojomamnbebe ones last year then ds was 6 mo and he did a poo and it squashed out the sides of the legs and went all over the buggy seat which is better than in the kids pool I suppose. DD has the swimsuit version and it held the wee in ok till we took it over and there was so much on the floor she slipped over!! She was 2.6 and was potty trained soon after :0 I prefer the disposable ones now for ds.
