We changed in June from British Gas to London Energy, as our gas alone had gone up to £81.50 per month. If I had SueW or Ladymuck's bill though, I would faint clean away Is this just how things are going to be re energy prices, do you think?

at least it's cheaper than oil for me now.. cost me appx £1200 last year as oil prices are so high

Until a couple of months ago i was paying £35 a month for eletric and £28 a month for gas. As of august that is going up to £44 for gas and £65 for electric ! Thats an extra £46 a month.

Just had exactly the same experience as sueW . Independent plummer changed all my rads but advised me to keep the old boiler because I would never make my money back on it , and the new ones are even more unreliable.

hi ,

companies who are on www.uswitch .com actually pay to advertise on there so you are not really getting an unbiased quote for your gas or electric .
we get ours from telecom plus(utility warehouse). they do not advertise the service it is all done through word of mouth, that way they do not have big overheads and therefore do not have to hike their prices up .
have a look for yourselves and see what you think .

Well I've just checked on uswitch - I'm definitely on the cheapest tariff - to move to the next cheapest alternative would cost us an extra £234 per year. However they are suggesting that we should only be paying £1800 per year, so £150 pm (which I could live with). Thanks to theis thread I have been analysing out my bills for the last coule of years - we do seem to be using a lot more gas than in previous years, so I'll try and track down the culprit...
