my DS is nearly 8 months and has recently got his second tooth. he hates having his teeth brushed,he screams all the time, turns head away and tries to push toothbrush away. i have tried a different toothbrush, making it a game, different toothpaste, but to no avail.

has anyone got any tips on this?

Try and hold him on your lap in front of a big mirror to do it. He gets to see the funny baby, you make amusing faces and can see where his mouth is in the mirror.
My kids both love the Strawberry sparkle toothpaste from Tesco - probably condemned by dentists but I thought it was the scrubbing that mattered not the soap.
Also give him a toothbrush to play with while you brush his teeth, doesn't matter if they get swapped halfway through.

mine both did that at that age. I just used to wipe their teeth with a flannel until they were old enough to appreciate the "grown-up"-ness of brushes (at least a year, maybe 18 months - can't remember). sometimes they bite, but not usually hard. it's better than the screaming anyway.

that funny strawberry toothpaste is the only toothpaste that mine spit out in disgust!

Fancy toothbrushes - you know the ones, with flashing lights and stuff on them, so brushing their teeth is a treat.

They cost a fortune in supermarkets, but if you go to a streetmarket they're really cheap.
