Mildew on buggy seat - how to remove?

DH left the canvas seats from the double buggy in the garage while we moved house and they got wet. They now have a lovely scattering of mildew and we want to sell the buggy!

I've tried one of the Dirt Devil series for mildew but it didn't work. I presume the fact that the material is heavy canvas is the issue. So, can any suggest a remedy?

TIA.

Mildew is really difficult to get rid of (well, you know that already, of course!) and sometimes it won't budge at all. Is the canvas sturdy enough to use a scrubbing brush and bio washing powder on, or do you think it might fade? I can't think of anything else, sorry.

Can you wait for a bit before you try to sell it? Sunshine is the best thing but it's not very strong at the moment!

DS2 left his life-saving pyjamas (school swimming lessons) in a carrier bag for weeks on end and they were rank and loaded with mildew when I eventually found them.

I washed them normally and then left them on the washing line for 2 or 3 weeks last Easter, which was very hot and sunny I believe - we went away for the whole of the school hols and when we came back the mildew had virtually disappeared.

Otherwise you could try one of those spray bottles of mould and mildew remover, IME it works on tiles, grout and emulsion paint though not on silicon, but it is chlorine based and might leave light patches.

We had this on one of our buggie and NEVER got rid of it regardless of how much scubbing.

HG mould remover spray is the best thing I've tried...

Can the covers go in the washing machine? If so, the Queen of Clean suggests adding 250ml of white vinegar to your normal cleaning product, adding the offending article, together with several light-coloured towels and putting it through a normal wash cycle. Then hang out immediately. Can't guarantee that it will work, but it can't do any harm. It might be worth putting all covers in the wash in case any colours fade leaving you with a different coloured seat.

We have just recently had this. DH left a buggy in the garage and it was covered in mildew. I got some Oxyclean and made up a paste with it and covered the areas with the mildew, gave them a bit of a scrub and left it for an hour or so then hosed the buggy down. There are still some mildewed areas remaining but it helped loads, I think when the better weather comes in I will use the Oxyclean on the buggy again and then follow the suggestions of leaving it out in the sun. If the covers don't come off for washing this may be worth a try.
