Would watered down bleach be ok or is there a better way?

I read this as poo...

Gobbledigook · 18/07/2006 21:01

I wonder how many people on MN actually have a swimming pool and will have any clue how to answer this question?!

KBear · 18/07/2006 21:04

I have a pool darlings, doesn't everyone???

Seriously, it's a 10ft easy set pool and they recommend you use Aquablanc in it once a week. It's not chlorine (DON'T USE BLEACH - YOUR KIDS ARE GOING TO BE DRINKING THIS WATER) but a safer alternative that won't kill your plants if you use the water afterwards on the garden.

Empty your pool, clean it and fill it again and use Aquablanc (£20 from B&Q) and buy a filter too.

OH I thought it was poo too - fascinated to see whose poo it was.....

tortoise · 18/07/2006 21:07

lol marthamoo!
Its a 8ft easy set pool.
Was going to rince well after bleaching before re-filling!
Will look into Aquablanc but what do i clean it with 1st?

Oh, I thought you meant you were going to use bleach instead of chlorine!!

Should be fine to clean it then rinse it out with weak solution of bleach!

Get a cover too to stop the leaves and bugs landing in it. Ours was £6 in B&Q.

tortoise · 18/07/2006 21:11

Damn its not in the online B & Q! And i cant get to one.

Look online for pool stuff. You need to add chlorine and conditioner (expensive, but worth it). Make sure you get the stuff that's for an above ground pool and not an inground pool. The chemicals are different because the pool construction materials are different. Don't put bleach in, it may destroy your pool.
