Am thinking Lego Duplo but haven't got any further. What are the biggest hits for 3-4 years?

Cheers!

DS is getting sticklebricks and one of those first leap pad thingies!

We got him a garage (he had broken another one he had got already). He got a sandpit from his granmother. Both very popular.

tassis · 15/07/2006 22:08

bike?

slide?

scooter?

dressing up clothes?

brio type train stuff?

Albert · 15/07/2006 22:27

We got him a Brio type train set (it cost £12 in Tesco for about 150 pieces - fantastic value) I kid you not when I say it was not disassembled for the 1st 6 months after his birthday and is still played with now, in fact it is currently mounted in the bedroom, he is 6 now. This has to be one of the most successful pressies we have ever bought (and one of the cheapest!)

i'm a childminder and deal with lots of 3 yr olds
most played with things at mine for boys are:
bob the builder toys
hammers, saws etc
dressing up things
cars
dupol
books
noddy/pat/monster inc things
art things

AllBuggiedOut · 16/07/2006 08:54

Thanks - he's got some Brio-type stuff. And we've picked up a few pieces of wooden road cheap in TK Maxx which he loves too at the moment. Brio do a big tub of road and rail bits which I was wondering whether grandparents might like to buy him.

Anybody got a space hopper-type thing?

Bike.

We've just been bought a spacehopper and he quite likes it, but finds it quite hard work. He's 3.3 now.

He completely adores this giant ball if you have space in your garden or a park nearby. It's enormous and children just go mad for it.

fisil · 16/07/2006 09:13

I spent an entire day making him a gingerbread house and bought him a book of Hansel and Gretl. He loved it, and still talks about it. It was Xmas a week before his b'day and we got him a bike which he doesn't really care for at all!

AllBuggiedOut · 16/07/2006 21:21

Wow Fisil - sounds amazing! Did you just make large slabs of gingerbread and stick together with icing? Or was it cleverer than that?

Giant ball looks great fun Franny. We've got a like-a-bike which he loves at the moment so will hold off getting proper bike for now.

I think there was a thread with some links at Xmas time - and I did a search on google (google images got the most results). But yes, it was basically just slabs that I made in strategic shapes and sizes and then glued together with icing. And gained about 500 grey hairs!

ds2 was 3 on weds and he got a ride on tractor and trailer from argos which was his best present.Obviously quite expensive but grandma and grampa chipped in as well.

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2006 21:13

Ds also just loves this

Not cheap but it is a real, 1/4 size guitar with a lovely sound.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 17/07/2006 21:51

it's next week, he has a Thomas paddling pool from ELC and three bags of balls to convert it when not so warm outside. (Balls 3 bags for £11 in Asda atm, as opposed to £20 in ELC on their bogof offer).

He is Thomas mad though, will be on holiday that day and we're off on a steam train for his treat.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 17/07/2006 21:52

Oh and the other thing they all adore and can be built on afterwards, the first K'Nex range. All my three ( siblings are 5 and 6) go amd for it. Woolies do it, about a tenner. Worthe very penny.
