lincolnshire - child friendly pubs?

my parents are in lincs (east of grantham) and like to take us out for sunday lunch when we visit. so far however we've failed to find anywhere child friendly - normally end up in lovely pubs but no other children, mostly elderly couples out for a peaceful roast lunch! ds (13mo) tends not to comply .

the Piewipe is fab in Lincoln. Great food, you cam eat outside and watch the boats on the canal and the trains go past....that makes it sound vile, but it isn't!

sounds great mb but think lincoln is quite a drive from their house (not sure though - they only moved to the area a few years ago so i haven't got my bearings)

really? not so bad then. when i said east of grantham btw i meant to the east of (rather than the east end of!). folkingham is nearest large-ish village. still only same distance do you think?

Is it Fenton where the arts and crafts place is and the pub does great food - I'm sure when I was there last there were quite a few kids - it's just north of Grantham between the A17 and the A607 (I think!)
Piewipe is great btw!

Tutter · 15/07/2006 13:05

I don't rightly know! I just have a vague recollection that it was in Fenton. I have however found THIS!
Pick a village, any village! Except Fenton it would seem.......

Squarer · 15/07/2006 13:09

Tutter · 15/07/2006 13:13

www.pubsinthearea.co.uk

See if you can access it by cutting and pasting into your browser address bar and choosing Lincolnshire

After consulting my DH's bible, the Good Beer Guide, I have found the a pub that might do - the Duke of York at Gosberton Risegate (looks about 15 miles away). It has 'quality food' a 'no-smoking dining room' and 'garden with play area where goats and other animals are an added attraction', so sounds child friendly. Might be worth a try. Another one in Frognall which is further away called the Goat has 'good food, large garden with children's play area and another just for toddlers'.
