Moving to March (Cambs) or Swaffham (Norfolk)- any insights on these areas?

Hi- my family and I are relocating from Kent to either March in Cambridgeshire or Swaffham in Norfolk- both are commutable to King's Lynn & Norwich where my husband will be working, but March has the advantage of a train line as we're not sure we'll have a 2nd car to begin with, although I've seen a good car share site we're checking out too.

We have found houses to consider in both areas- but having only been to both on quick visits, I wondered if anyone has any insights. We don't mind quiet living/village life etc so that per se wouldn't put us off, we also don't min having to drive to bigger shops/retail outlets. We'd like somewhere we can feel part of a community with our 3 little kids, and obviously with a suitable preschool & primary.

Does anyone live in March or Swaffham now that can offer an opinion??

Much appreciated. xx

I don't know about swaffham but am very local to march (raised there).

The town itself isn't bad. They are trying hard to attract new and staying businesses to the area. It's not far from Wisbech/kings Lynn/Peterborough/Ely if you want more chain shops. You've already found the train station, a real boon. As well as a good bus service so plenty of scope to get to larger towns and cities a bit further afield with no trouble.

There is plenty of green space with west end park in the town centre, and several more dotted about the town.

Personally I moved to a village and enjoy the peace and space a lot more. And I have a greater sense of belonging to the village community.

March has a terribly entrenched view of being local being best. The older generation fail to see with younger people moving away, the 'newcomers' are people who are going to keep the town going. But if you are the sort of family to join clubs such as guiding/scouting/cricket/bowls/football/running and so on, you will find plenty of people to share a common interest.
