What age can they start to play tennis?

I really want to join our local el cheapo tennis club as (a) I need to get fit but can't face the gym and (b) I really like tennis and despite not being able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo, I think I could improve quickly.

DH was a great tennis player in his time, I know he would love it too. DD is soon to be 4, do you think she could get involved yet or is it too early? We "play" badminton in the garden, she seems to have a good eye and reasonable co-ordination. I'm sure more exercise would do her good too.

Anyone?

Join as a family!
our tennis club does soft ball and light racquet games for younger kids
dd is 3.8 and has terrible eyesight but she is content with a ball hanging down on a string to bat at and she can hit a ball with the racquet as well down the court.
They are generally really family friendly

My local council sports centre does tennis lessons from 2.5

THEY ARE CUTE

My 3 year old goes - at the moment they mostly play with balloons and practice catching - it's FABULOUS

they start from 4 here - dd (prob would be classed as quite clumsy and sort of average co-ordination!) really enjoys it. They mostly do games (running and catching) but they have also started to learn how to do some of the easier strokes. At that age, it's really all about enjoying it so it's worth going along to their children's classes and seeing if you think she would like it.

3 locally but its more ball skills/coordination than actual tennis
