AAARRGHH! MY SITE'S DOWN!

Panic! Panic! Panic! I don't know where my site has gone! It was here and now it's not! I don't know how long it's been gone or where it could be! I tried connecting to it in Dreamweaver, but it cannot be found! Is there a Missing Site helpline I could phone? Was it something I said? Has it run away? I mean, it never said it was depressed or anything, it seemed perfectly happy last time I looked! You just don't see these things coming do you?

What am I talking about? I JUST WANT MY SITE BACK!

How awful b. So many sick people in the world...
Hope none of you were home.

snowbird · 06/03/2004 18:28

Rhubarb
(((((hugs)))))
Sorry to hear about your parrot. Hope you get some good news about him soon.
Love snowbird
xx

suedonim · 06/03/2004 18:50

Oh, no, Rhubarb, that's awful. Oddly enough I thought of your parrot this week because the headline in our local paper was about a woman who's looking for a parrot-sitter while she's on holiday (not a lot of interest goes on in this area, you understand).

Is your parrot chipped, so that he could be recognised if they try to sell him to a pet shop?

How horrible to have had someone in your home, too.

WideWebWitch · 06/03/2004 20:14

Rhubarb, so awful, sorry about your parrot. Glad your site's back though, Twiglett and I were looking for it.

Marina · 08/03/2004 09:45

Rhubarb, I'm really sorry about your parrot and the break-in. What a hateful thing to happen. I'm hoping you might somehow get him back.

Rhubarb · 08/03/2004 10:01

Thank you. No we weren't in at the time, we'd got to dh's brothers for a meal. We got back around 8pm. They'd put the front door on the catch so dh had to kick it in. If we'd known all the back doors were wide open we'd have gone in that way!

They trashed the place a bit, but nothing else was taken. I just feel very very miserable at the mo. He was one of my best friends, we'd been through a lot together and I just cannot believe that he could be taken from me in this way. He was the one thing in my life that was constant. If anybody asked what to do to really hurt me, that would be it. I don't care for material things, if they had taken loads of my stuff it wouldn't have mattered to me much, I don't attach sentimentality to those things. But to take him, well that was cruel. I feel very empty and very shocked still. I will never stop looking for him. I'm offering £100 reward for him in the hope that someone's greed will get the better of them. I doubt they would get £100 for him on the open market, he was too old and not tame enough. But to me, he's priceless.

Some people are shits. I always did like animals better anyway.

How crap to steal your parrot, Rhubs. So sorry to hear that.

tigermoth · 09/03/2004 07:21

rhubarb, that's just awful for you. I am so sorry.

susanmt · 09/03/2004 11:24

Rhubarb, so sad to hear about your parrot, but glad to hear your site is back! I emailed you today with my happy ending for your site, as things are getting better here now! Its been a fab site for me, made a huge difference with the struggles I've had, so hopefully it will also help others.

Rhubarb · 09/03/2004 12:24

Thanks Susanmt, I'll put your story on the site this evening. It does make a difference to have happy endings on there too, it gives women the hope that things will get better! Glad everything worked out for you

No word about the parrot yet. I've phoned all the local pet shops, vets, been in the newspapers, phoned the RSPCA, parrot breeders, advertised on internet sites, registered him stolen with the stolen pets national line (or something like that), put up posters all over town and been in the local pubs asking drinkers to keep their eyes and ears open for me. I'm getting very disheartened, but I can't give up hope, not yet.
Thanks for all the best wishes.

This morning I saw two yellow green parrots (medium size) sitting in our apple tree. Somehow I think we don't live too far from you Rhubarb...we're in W3 (west acton), could one of them be yours? I know it's a long shot, but worth checking. I've seen posters up in the neighborhood of somone else losing their parrot...maybe the two of them joined up.

Rhubarb · 11/03/2004 09:47

Sorry, no, not mine. He's all green with bright red feathers under his tail. And we live in Preston.
BUT I have had a call today from someone who read my ad in one of the papers. She has read about a parrot found flying round a school in her local area - Liverpool. I don't know anything about the bird yet, I have a number to call but can't call it until after 5pm. It's a long shot, but whoever stole Max could have come from Liverpool, it's not that far from Preston. Once they realised he wouldn't talk and wasn't actually worth that much, they might have let him go.
Here's hoping - miracles sometimes happen don't they? It would be soooooo good if it was him!

SofiaAmes - I'm in W5 and saw 3 parrots (small, green) in the park next to our house, last week. The friend I was with thought they'd escaped from the Walpole Park animal centre which is nearby..by the time I found a number to ring the council on the parrots were gone! Must have flown east!

bluebear · 11/03/2004 20:11

Rhubarb - so sorry your parrot was taken.

Rhubarb · 12/03/2004 10:32

There are some parrots breeding down South apparently.
