We both love 'stuff' but he says this year he's so happy there's nothing he wants! [snigger emoticon]

However I do seriously need to get him something, particularly from ds, but cannot think of a thing bar one cd.

He likes indie style music, has a ps2 but doesn't want any games or another console, doesn't view clothes as a present more of a necessity, and is a pita!!!!!

Gift Vouchers and Gift Cards were placed on this earth for just such problems.

get him some shower gel that's all i do!

lunavix · 07/07/2006 21:39

lol he'd kill me if I got him a voucher lol

We usually spend around £150 on each other. It may seem a lot (or not) to some people, we just always have. There's ALWAYS stuff I want, and up until this birthday always been stuff he wants! Previously I got him surfing lessons, took him skydiving, got him a sony walkman... we like spoiling each other a bit. We don't really do anniversairies, and christmas is more for ds, so it's the one time we splurge a little.

But... argh!

I had this problem with my dh in April. He didnt need/want anything and everytime i asked him what i should get him he just said 'nothing'. In the end i bought him lots of little toekn gifts ie golf vouchers (i bought him the clubs the previous year), clothes,mp3 player from the boys and then secretly arranged for his mum to have our two boys and then took him away to a posh hotel/country club overnight. It was great to get away, just the two of us, I even paid for him to have a round of golf when we arrived while i pampered myself in the spa, then we had a nice romantic meal, followed by an even more romantic night IYKWIM and there were no kids rushing into the room at 6am to wake us. It was great. Dh still talks about it, i think he was expecting a couple of t-shirts and dvds so was shocked by the effort i put into arranging it and keeping it secret from him (maybe he will do the same next year for me lol). He didnt even know where we were going until 10mins before we left home.

Maybe you could do something similar for your dh, im sure having you to himself would be the best present he could have for his birthday!!

one of the nicest most useful pressies i got Dh who is not at all a jewellery fan and wont even wear a wedding ring, was some Tiffany cufflinks that are silver and say return to tiffany on, the box they come in is cool and it was a special splurge but less than £100 if i can remember. though i had to do a week of lambing to get them!

lunavix · 08/07/2006 22:37

lambing????

pebblemum - it sounds lovely However I'm 35 weeks pg and don't have the energy for the 'romantic night' which I think for him would be the best bit

YF - for some reason he doesn't want a psp. And I@d rather he had a nintendo ds as I have one then we can play link games. But he doesn't want a ds either.

one of your rites of passage as a vet student, basically slave labour at the time but remembered with a nostalgic glow now.

Subscription to Viz or The Idler magazine. My DH loves both.
Surprise night in a Travelodge / guesthouse / hotel (delete as budget allows), just the two of you.
