So why didn't any of you tell me it's no easier second time round?

I just went to school for ds2's "Starting School" evening. It's a fantastic school, I know and like many of the teachers, the Early Years department is lovely..ds1 is in Year 4 and has done really well there.

So why, as the head talked about what to expect, did I find myself getting increasingly emotional and have just dashed home so I could have a good cry?

I thought it would all be old hat this time round but I feel just as weepy about ds2 starting school as I did when ds1 started. What's wrong with me?

(I think ds1 being away from home tonight for the first time ever on a school trip may be playing a part too...)

Going out for a meal in a minute and am all red eyed. S'probably hormones, innit?

I creid in front of my sons head teacher the other week
My ds is nearly 13 ffs
I dread to think how I will be when my delicate little dd hits the school time run

I think that's part of it actually Jan - I was pregnant when ds1 started school so I knew I had another one waiting in the wings, so to speak. I'm not having any more so it's not just ds2 starting school - it's an end to a period of my life: no more babies, no more toddlers, no more pre-schoolers

I'm glad it's not just me, piffle.

At the moment I feel like I can't wait for dd2 to start school!!! She is 2yrs and 3 mos and DEFINITELY my last (dh has had the snip!!) However, I am totally sure that a couple of years down the line I will be blubbing away like a maniac!!
