Anyone's kids going to Camp Beaumont this summer?

Ds1 and dd are doing a week at Kings, Wimbledon in August (ds1 has been before to one of their playtime camps) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips about it? Also, anyone know about the lunch they offer? I am undecided whether to go for the supplied lunch option or do packed.

A friend's ds is doing this, but it's new to her too, so no info to offer. Well disguised bump for you?

DS went twice at the Wimbledon camp and he really enjoyed it. We gave him a packed lunch and didn't sign him up for any extras or T-shirts or anything like that.

BTW how old are they? Would they be interested in a cricket camp at the Wimbledon Cricket Club?

Cristina - I didn't think they needed t-shirts or anything like that either (I'm sure there will be plenty of other retail opportunities dueing summer hol treats!). I think I will do a packed lunch, even if they leave half of it as I think most kids will be taking stuff rather than having what's provided.

re cricket - ds1 is only 5.5 so a bit young, but he likes playing a bit of cricket with mates in the garden. He had a difficult time when he first had a go though - another well-meaning dad had showed him how to hold the bat and stand etc, and ds1 copied him exactly, not realising he should be the other way round as he is left-handed. Took him a while to work out why the bat wasn't doing what it should!

Yes, 5.5 is probably a bit young. My DS is 6.5 and I wonder if the day won't feel too long for him. But he won't be playing all the time, there'll be some hanging around waiting to take turns, lunch etc.

Camp Beaumont can be a lot of fun. DS got on v well the first summer. The next summer he enjoyed it again but he went with a friend and they got in a bit of trouble together, spurring each other on etc. Or maybe the staff expected more settled behaviour as they were a bit older by then.

Do you live in Wimbledon then?

Yes, opposite BG school, DS is there in year 1.

We're in Balham, but I have a friend thinking of moving to Wimbledon for the schools.

Primary schools are pretty good here. Few secondaries though (state ones).
