ARGH! Ants!

Well, it's about time for my weekly hormonal panic...

Dh has just informed me that he found four ants by the sofa this morning. He duly removed them, but I'm now rather worried. How likely are we to suddenly get a horde of them running through?

It's really bizarre - the sofa is nowhere near the door and I didn't really think it was ant season - still quite cold outside. Thought this was really a summer problem.

If we do get a load, what's the safest way to remove them? I have a 2 year old and I'm 26 weeks pregnant so I'm reluctant to have any chemicals in the house. Previously when we've had ants we've only had them outside so we could pour kettles of hot water down... not really as easy inside on the carpet!

Uuuuuurrrrggghhh!!!
We have 'em too, as of last weekend (DD's birthday party, lots of food squished into floorboards). Disgusting determined creatures - the ants, not the kids!

Our sitting/dining room has original 1950's floorboards, so lots of nooks and crannies for small kids' food droppings, but not big enough to clean out well, IYKWIM.

We put down the Nippon powder which cleared most of them and also got some of the gel traps so fingers crossed. Last year we dosed the patio with boiling water and Lysol so I will do that at the weekend as I reckon the nest is there.

Nasty, nasty things.

Spring is definitely here. First ant spotted this morning in the living room. Time to buy shares in Nippon.

and this year I have a 9 month old crawling around to snack on them too... probably just after they've got a belly full of poison

Did I mention that I hate them?

Casmie · 16/02/2005 11:51

So, when are you coming to dinner, Anteater?

ARGH... thought I had escaped them this year and had started feeling smug. Now found them in the new extension and now two near the TV.

Oh well, extra protein for ds2.
