Of the ones I've been to, Brockwell Park lido.

spidermama · 01/07/2006 14:19

Have you got one in mind then zip?
You don't have one at home do you?

foxinsocks · 01/07/2006 14:26

I loved Aldershot Lido as a child but haven't been back there. It was huge and had lots of slides, a fountain, diving boards and a paddling bit.

Had school trip to Sun Centre at Rhyl once. Was the hot attraction 20-odd years ago as it had a, gasp, wave machine, but not so much fun for a non-swimmer like myself. I hurt my arse coming off the bottom of the baby's elephant slide in the shallow end.

The Alton Towers water park thing is meant to be great fun if you're making a special trip. On a smaller scale, there's an outdoor water park / pool thing at Scarborough that looked quite fun, as we peered through the railings last year.

Alton Towers water park is great fun, but not cheap. (Not sure how it compares with other places though tbh).

the southport sea bathing lake was knocked down in the beginning of the nineties..how appalling

There was a lovely outdoor pool at Grange-over-Sands that we went to a few times in the late 80s, that was demolished in 1992

They have a v nice indoor one now but they're so claggy in hot weather, aren't they?

zippitippitoes · 01/07/2006 14:59

I found this website..I think I need to do a uk tour of sea pools

some look gorgeous

Chesham Open Air Pool is fantastic!

MadamePlatypus · 01/07/2006 16:00

My favourite is Hampton Open Air Pool. There probably are nicer ones, but it is the nicest one near me and it is a great place to go on Christmas Day.

ediemcreedie · 01/07/2006 16:28

I think the one in cheltenham looks nice.

Ahhhh JanH. Claggy. What a lovely word isn't it

Personally I like the new swimming pool at Alnwick (Northumberland) but I have very limited experiences of swimming pools so I am probably easily pleased

fullmoonfiend · 01/07/2006 17:12

BadHair, the scarborough one is being closed down to make way for some cheap and nasty OASIS style development
