I cant even drive so no I dont, but loads of my friends ring me on the way to XYZ and they havent got hands free. Do you?

ducks for cover as MN'ers admit to breaking the law

BettySpaghetti · 30/06/2006 21:30

No -if it rings I'll pull over if I can be bothered, if I can't be bothered I'll just let it ring

southeastastra · 30/06/2006 21:31

i only answer, then tell them im driving

TooTicky · 30/06/2006 21:31

Never would. Of course I only passed my test on Weds but absolutely not. I recently saw somebody pulling out onto the main road whilst pushing buttons - scary!

hulababy · 30/06/2006 21:31

I use hands free if I need to use my mobile when driving. I would not answer it if I didn't have hands free though.

LeahE · 30/06/2006 21:37

I occasionally use hands-free but never without hands-free. Before we had hands-free I'd just let it ring and then check the message later.

madrose · 30/06/2006 21:37

no, but it causes big arguements with me and DH. I get told not to be ridculous and I even brought him an expensive hands kit

RTKangaMummy · 30/06/2006 21:38

IMHO even to answer and tell someone you are driving is WRONG

Greensleeves · 30/06/2006 21:39

Is anyone actually going to admit to it?

charliecat · 30/06/2006 21:39

Dp does as well. I have told him that I think its crazy that he drives whilst on the phone but cant multitask enough to stir soup and talk on the house phone

No, I don't and hate people who do (unless hands free obviously!)

I have a neighbour who has her mobile permanently stuck to her ear when she is in the car - every time I see her there she is driving with one hand around roundabouts jabbering away.

It drives me nuts!!!!

2shoes · 30/06/2006 23:36

stupid question If it is hands free how do you answer the call?

NannyL · 30/06/2006 23:49

I use mine on loudspeeker (if ONLY me in the car) and i cant get to my hands free

If anyone else is in the car i will ONLY talk using hands free

IMO children can be more distracting than mobile phones.... but ive never used a phone when driving even when it wasnt as illegal as it is now!

hunkermunker · 30/06/2006 23:50

No.

And even on hands free it's not a good idea IMO.

NannyL · 30/06/2006 23:52

answering a call hands free is IMO no different to pressing a button to change the radio... turn lights on / alter air con etc

mrsbang · 30/06/2006 23:52

No, and I don't use handsfree either.

Bugs me when I see it tbh.

warthog · 30/06/2006 23:52

agree hunker. no to mobile phones in cars period. would be great if there was a mobile disabler as soon as you switched the car on.

hunkermunker · 30/06/2006 23:52

Answering the call is no different. But talking is just as distracting IMO.

I agree. I think talking on mobile phones is more distracting than talking to someone in the car. Not sure why.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 01/07/2006 00:23

No I don't, and I hate people that do.
But something which probably annoys me just as much is people smoking whilst driving and people who drive and look at the person next to them when chatting! Can't they look at the road and chat?!

eidsvold · 01/07/2006 10:54

no and I shout at people I see using them to 'get off the bloody phone.' so dangerous. What stuns me is the no I see using their phone whilst they have passengers - what is so secret that passenger can't answer it and tell them they will call them back.

No phone call is worth a car accident. I followed a young woman yesterday who was weaving all over the road so I went in to other lane and went past her - as I did - she was bloody TEXTING on her phone?

morocco · 01/07/2006 11:04

if I'm about to pull over to answer it, I have once or twice pressed answer and then yelled, speak to you in a minute, I'm driving, while phone is on seat next to me. That's my cheapo version of handsfree! But that is literally twice that I've done it. otherwise, no
