Those book recycling bins in car parks - what happens to the books?

Just having a clear out and have some old map books of various towns. I can't imagine that anyone would want them as they're probably out of date, so not worth ebaying or giving to a charity shop, but I can't bring myself just to bin stuff like that. If I stick them in one of the recycling bins will they get recycled? OK I know that's a daft question - I mean is it the material that gets recycled, rather than the books passed on somewhere whole? Have I made any sense?!

they go to charities to be sold for the charity named on the bin. If it is a specific book one that is...

Old maps sell on ebay..so someone might want them

Surfermum · 28/06/2006 12:45

Really? I assumed no-one would want a 1988 A-Z street plan of Swindon or Worthing/Littlehampton.

Yes, Misdee I've got a 1988 A-Z of London and a A-Z street plan of Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead and Eton. Why, would you like it?
