3 hour kids party, small house, no garden, what do I do with them?

Arranging an early birthday party and leaving party for dd on Saturday. She wants to invite around 10 friends. So I'm having them from 11am - 2pm for a birthday lunch. So I reckon that eating will only take around half an hour, what do I do with them for the other 2 and a half hours? We have a small house, no garden but a cobbled place outside our front door they can play on. Any ideas?

Collect a load of dressing up type things - eg swimming goggles, your husbands coat, funny hats, put in a black sack or box. Kids sit in circle, play music and pass round a hat. Whoever is wearing hat when music stops picks something from the box and wears it. Keep going until they are all wearing two/three items.

You need a good mixture of items to make it work but it can be simple things from around the house eg shower cap plus Dads welly boots and Mums coat look very silly on 5 year old. They will love it.

Buy some cheap make up/sort out some old make up of your own. Let them make each other up. My DD has just turned 7 and has loved playing with make up for ages. If you are not happy with the make up buy some cheap face paints and let them decorate each other. They love to do it themselves rather than a grown up doing it for them.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet as thread too long to read all of it, but try birthdaypartyideas.com- lot's of ideas from parents on various themes. It's an american site I think and some of the ideas are on a big scale(ie having big marquee etc)but a lot of it is quite useful.

Think I've got it covered now! Loads of ideas and enough for those time fillers when the little brats do something quicker than you want them to! For the obstinate little brat we have some rope

I've just done a list of things we need to. I'm flying over Weds for an interview Thurs, coming back Fri and party is on Sat so I need to get organised! Think I've thought of everything. I am feeling very very organised and smug now!
