Dentists: When you bring the need to pay for treatments into the equation .. how do you know you're getting the right advice?

I am stunned by the new contract that dentists have meaning they can't do many treatments

so if you can afford to pay (just) .. how do you know that your dentist is advising things because it makes them more money or because it is the best for your dental health

and once you have the feeling your dentist is a money-grabbing shyster is it time to move practices?

Second opinions are a good idea

I moved 3 years ago and went to switch dentists. The new one said I needed £2k worth of work

I went back to my old one and he said "hmmm you have a filling that has cracked, might need replacing soon but then again could last for ages so wait and see"

Guess who I go to now?
