When people ask what to buy for him to collect i would like to tell them rather than him recieving all silverware. Any ideas? Most people will prob spend £10-20

what about some nice books (hardback ones?), plate/bowl/cup sets, plants for the garden (seems to be very popular and you don't end up with a house full of stuff. you can even get roses with a link to his name but they are probably more expensive. I think people see it as giving you something you can plant and watch grow as he grows)

lion, witch collection of books

a bible

something practical - outfit for pre-school(?) and whatever else they want to spend into his savings

ask all to club together and buy a climbing frame that will last right through till 10 (the TP one you can add to as get older)

dd has an apple tree which we planted on her christening day - she's jsut watching the apples growing at the moment and insists that they are "my apples"

Ask for the money,if you are brave ,then you could open a savings account .

a tree or plant is nice.
the DSs got mostly books IIRC but DS1 got about 3 money boxes and a Peter Rabbit china mug which have sat on the shelf ever since and gathered a lot of dust.
I also rememeber some lovely bookends which were very handy for all the books!

the great thing about roses or trees is that it doesn't matter if you get lots of them! the more the merrier... unlike money boxes and photo frames!!!
