There are people camping outside my house...

I find myself chuckling as I write this, but would anyone else find it a tad odd to open the curtains of their terraced home to find their neighbour's parents' camper van parked up outside - we're in a little cul-de-sac so they are immediately outside the window - and the two of them happily going about their morning, to all extents and purposes as if they were in the middle of the Lake District? I love my neighbours and hasten to point out that I am smiling (albeit a tad incredulously) as I write this... but I hope they're not here for good! They've been here for two days now and I do feel a wee bit exposed relaxing in the sitting room with them just a few feet away.

Poor people! Is their son/daughter's house completely full up with people, that there isn't even sofa space to sleep? Strange situation all round!

Have they run a washing line over the drive way? are they preparing for a barbacue in the front garden?

tess24 · 24/06/2006 10:39

Have done it myself when kids were younger! Went to visit my brother who only had small flat so kids slept in flat and dh and myself slept in the van outside!

I would rather sleep in a caravan in the front garden that having to share my MIL's house.

mazzystar · 24/06/2006 10:40

are you sure they are not undercover paparrazzi or FBI agents

I think it's a bit of a crush if they sleep in the house - they don't really have a spare room - plus the parents have their dog with them. I think they are en route to the continent for a touring holiday, but still makes me giggle. Postman's jut been - relieved to see he didn't have mail for them.

we used to do this when I was a teenager. If I had a few friends to sleep over we'd all go in the camper van in the driveway!

I rmember that one of my school-friends little brothers actually lived in a caravan on their drive from when he was 15 - 17 ish. Came in for his meals and so so. Not because they didn't have room but apparently because he was a bit smelly and obnoxious

That seems like a perfect arrangement, having your own "bachelor pad" from 15 yrs ols=d with a free restaurant and laundry across the garden.

They seem quite fragrant and nice - so don't think it's that...
