Eau de Lancome - takes me straight back to my honeymoon in Corsica. I treated myself to some luxury toiletries.
NB It was shower gel...I didn't drink it...

the musty smell of lofts gets me too..

you could go into the eaves of our house when I was little through a little tiny door in the railway room and I used to go in with my brother and he lit matches so that we could see where we were going..it seemed to go on for ever..we had to be very careful to walk on the beams and not between!

the smell of cinammon and apple together - takes me straight back to family Christmases when I was a kid and there were always loads of people staying at our house

also lemon - espcially limoncello liquer - reminds me of our honeymoon in Italy

pupuce · 23/06/2006 20:11

Eau de Lancôme... Marina... muy mum use to wear that so it was my first "perfume'

zippitippitoes · 23/06/2006 20:12

the smell of pink lillies takes me straight back to a horrible time with ds1 in SCBU

sometimes I smell them and dont realise that I have and suddenyl feel all sad and maternal and wonder why I am feeling like that

WigWamBam · 23/06/2006 20:16

Blackberries takes me right back to a holiday with my grandparents when I was about 6 or 7 - I'm almost there walking down that country lane picking blackberries for Grandma to make a pie for tea.

And another vote here for chestnut trees; I used to go chestnutting with my dad and Grandad when I was little, and the smell of damp chestnut trees and leaf mould always takes me back.

freshly cut grass = school sports days and the school playing field. Paco Raban (sp?) = first boy friend and the feeling that life would go on for ever and the world was my oyster!

zippy539 · 23/06/2006 20:18

Oh, forgot about the smell of putty - always reminds me of my Dad.

zippitippitoes · 23/06/2006 20:19

Pipe tobacco - parked next to someone in Scotland recently who was smoking a pipe and I caught a whiff as I got out of the car. My Grandad was right there beside me, and he died 30 years ago. It was a nice warm feeling.

fullmoonfiend · 23/06/2006 20:23

woodsmoke - my entire life seems to be entangled with this aroma; woodfire at childhood home, bonfires, autumn days, camping with brownies, camping with friends, frying freshly-caught trout by a loch in Scotland, wild midsummer parties with daning and singing by the light of the flames, bike rallies, beach evenings; everyone gathered around chewing the fat, sipping whisky and that feeling of celebration and finding family and tribe.....

zippitippitoes · 23/06/2006 20:50

making bonfires at the bottom of the grden..and puting potatoes in the ahse s to bake the outside went all kind of balck and hard but some butter on the soft smokey midle bit was lovely
