A friend of mine did petals - she bought a load of cheap roses (the kind those blokes sell at road junctions) from the market and chopped the petals off with a sharp knife all in one go. gthey worked brilliantly, smelled lovely and were quite floaty and not too ££. IIRC she got two big bowls full for people to take a handful from about 50 roses.

Another thought...some venues don't allow you to throw anything at all.Has she checked?

A bit off topic here, so sorry, but i was reminded of my cousins child at our wedding. We had confetti during the day, and at night as we were leaving we got showered in more confetti and rice. Then we started getting hit with something hard(and sore) and here was my cousin's son, who was 3, throwing the sugared almonds from his mum's favour!!
