Can't believe I'm asking this - such a boring question! But do you think expensive washing powder is worth it?

sorry, I know it's boring but I'm very tight about certain things and am interesting in your views. I don't mind buying organic meat and decent brand names sometimes if I think they're worth it but I usually buy own brand cheapie washing powder as I resent the cost of the others. However, I'm not convinced it always gets things as clean as a brand name would. So, is expensive washing powder/tablets/liquid worth it? Does it really make a difference? And have you proved it? I won't be surprised or offended if no-one answers this!

:) what a great thread. Been using Tesco Bio Washing powder for quite some time for all my washes, and can't fault it.
Hardly any perfume but it gets everything pretty clean :0

I always use fairy or persil non bio...
I only use one tablet..
a man who came and fixed my machine told me I was using to much powder or tablets and to cut down.. I only use the one now and the clothes come out just as clean, the only difference is I don't have that just washed smell

Ha ha flapperjack, well, I started this thread ages ago and would like to announce that I have now fallen for Persil Colour because ex mil uses it and it smells nice and is comforting because it smells like her washing!

morrisons own - the red and white value one) is cheap as chips but great - clean bright clothes, smelling lovely and fresh.

I do hide it in a cupboard though whereas i never used to bother when i could afford persil/ariel etc!! (as me old ma used to say, it's one thing to be poor, it's another to be seen to be poor! Grin )

Maybe this should actually go on the snob thread!! Blush

Haven't read the whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating

I switched to tablets about 12 months ago, it solves the problem of putting too much powder in the machine, you know exactly how many washes you have left before you need to buy some more, they don't take up as much room in the cupboard and they clean perfectly
