I was going to go last year but I had a baby instead. A friend went in 2004 she said it was great but they had problems as her 2 year old couldn't take the cold. It is extremely cold out there.

doobydoo · 18/06/2006 16:21

We did it last year and went for the day. It was fantastic, but I wouldn't do it for the day again TBH. The flight is 4 hours each way, so you get there about 12 noon, by the time you get to the activity area and to see santa it is about 1.30pm then you have lunch, see Santa do the activities and have to be back on the coach to the airport at 5pmish.

I'd definitely do the 2 day break or longer if you could afford it. It is quite magical - and I think Canterbury did well at organising it!

doobydoo · 18/06/2006 17:02

Yes soapbox..it does look magical.Prob 3 or more days would be good.I did have a shock re the price and thought we could get tickets to Oz or round the world for the same price. We haven't ever had a hol and have been left some money so i am worried we might not make the best choice.

How old are your kids soapbox?

soapbox · 18/06/2006 17:04

That is a hard one then! I'm not sure that if it was my only holiday in a year I'd choose to spend it all on lapland. I'd probably rather have a longer holiday in the sunshine TBH.

BUT - lapland is only really magical whilst they still 'believe' and so if you don't do it this year...

soapbox · 18/06/2006 17:04

Mine were 5 and 7 at Christmas time.

doobydoo · 18/06/2006 17:06

Yes that's what i think soapbox.Ds will be 7 in Aug so now is the time if we are going to do itSmile. Were your kids amazed how did they react?

They thought it was the most exciting day they had ever had.

We had to walk across a bridge over a river to see Santa and they ask for your name as you walk over the bridge. It's then about a 500 yard walk through the narnia like forest to see santa, along a path lit by candles. When you go inside to see Santa, he greets the children by name, saying 'hello A & B, I heard you were visiting today, so I've got a little present for you to keep you going until christmas day'. He chatted to them for about 5 minutes and their eyes were like saucersGrin

We may do it again this year - but for a few days this time - will decide nearer to the time!

I have a scrapbook page somewhere that I can link for you - hang on a mo!
