can any of you talented people give me some inspiration. Have to redo ds2s room as laura ashley swimming mice border is really annoying him now. Room about 10x10ft but bit awkward as one wall= big bay window, one wall=fitted cupboards one wall=door to hall and one wall=door to ds1 bedroom. Has Dado rail and dark blue curtains with blue pelmet (but could change). He wants Harry Potter, personally not mad on this idea as dont like wall paper with cartoony pictures and I think he would grow out of it too quickly. thought perhaps some kind of magical theme? (thats as far as I've got though!) Plain cream carpet. He also likes knights and castles/football/greek mythology but not space. Any inspiration?

Personally I'd go for Harry Potter if that's what he likes but keep cartoony paper to BELOW the dado rail OR football as it will last longer. Just hope he doesn't support Norwich coz of ug colours!

What about getting a student in from the local college, or if you're not that brave, a more established artist, to do a mural. You could then have Harry Potter painted on and it would look so much better than paper....

Paint walls in Hogwarts colours and then get some of that luminous paint (I'm sure B&Q have it) and then use star and wizard shaped stencils to apply it to the walls and ceilings. then you won't have t endure Wallpaper which has to be changed.

Ikea have good ranges of duvet covers and curtains, cheap and themed, around castles, knights, magic etc. Again, easily changeable as he grows.

Also, paint a big square of wall with magnetic paint so that he can stick pictures of h Potter, or whatever, to his wall at will....and change to football in due course. You can also paint an area with blackboard paint so that he can do his own artwork....

I did a curvy line, one colour above another below a bit like hills/beach and sea if you know what I mean and it breaks up big blocks of colours. i then put nursery stickers up but thinking about changing them soon

I did ds twins room in large jungle animals with trees and vines going around the doors, windows and in a corner. It is surprisingly easy.

One thing I did that would work for the magic theme. I bought those glow-in-the-dark stick on stars and planets. Painted the ceiling in "Fisherman Blue" from Homebase and stuck them on. We tried to do the planets in order circling the light in the centre of the ceiling as the sun! It means when I redo the room (waiting until the boys are old enough to decide and hope it is nothing complicated so I can draw it!)

Anyway, the glow-in-the dark stuff is also available in frogs and insects (for a witches/wizards brew.) It does look really good. Have fun!

Miggy - we're looking at paints for the front room and in a brochure picked up from Homebase there's a Feng Shui range of paints that is a glitter top coat.

If you can find the Crayola range of paints by Craig & Rose they are fab. They have glow in the dark paint, glitter top coats, top coats with little gold or silver stars in, heat sensitive paint (changes colour like magic!), magnetic undercoats, coloured chalkboard paint, wonderful rich vinyl wall paints and furniture paint, metallic paints in purple, blue, fluorescent paint....

I've had great fun doing DS1s room with these. Very loose "space" theme with deep blue walls, sky ceiling with glow in the dark stars painted on with the glowinthedark blue paint, metallic shelves, heat sensitive squares... One day I'll finish it too!

I've only ever seen the paint in Focus Do It All though, never in our large B&Q warehouse.
