southeastastra · 15/06/2006 14:22

boil kettle and pour it in then rinse out, it stinks doesn't it! do it now or it will just gather stinkiness

Piffle · 15/06/2006 14:23

oh FGS!!!!!!!!
Hose it out!

Gingerbear · 15/06/2006 14:24

Hosepipe will work.
Why can't you do it yourself?

Gingerbear · 15/06/2006 14:24

I would use rubber gloves.

Gingerbear · 15/06/2006 14:24

And maybe an overall.

weewilliewinkie · 15/06/2006 14:24

hose it out first, then pour salt around the rim. I do this and it kills any maggots that appear. Think the salt dries them up or something.

It stinks, doesn't it?!

NomDePlume · 15/06/2006 14:25

hose out the creatures, then bleach and boiling kettle to get rid of any smells and grimness

Esmummy · 15/06/2006 14:25

Alright Piffle, jeez. Have never encountered maggotts before.

My first instinct was to poor water in there but then i wasn't sure where to pour the water afterwards.
Boiled water best ? Will it just kill the little blighters straight away ?

Thanks for the tips.
That's just it NDP, i seriously think I will gag if i have to do it.
DP is on his was home from work (No, I haven't called him home to deal with the maggotts) so he can do it soon.

Take a deep breath and hold it whilst you do the deed.

Gingerbear · 15/06/2006 14:28

Boiling water, bleach and Maggots down the drain outside.

Esmummy · 15/06/2006 14:28

Where do i empty the water ? Our bin is out the front of the house and I ahve o way of getting it through to the garden without dragging it through the house.

Esmummy · 15/06/2006 14:29

Ok, already answered that, Thanks.
I will give it a go

Piffle · 15/06/2006 14:31

Sorry esmummy was intending to put a grin in there Blush

Esmummy · 15/06/2006 14:35

S'ok, I forgive you Wink.
Have tried but the stench is just horrible, and the whole wriggly thing is freaking me out. Got visions of all the neighbours peering out of their windows laughing at me.
DP will be home in 10 mins, have called him to give him the great news of his first job when he gets home Grin

OP posts:
southeastastra · 15/06/2006 14:38

if he's home in 10 mins def get him to do it!

Esmummy · 15/06/2006 15:06

RESULT - DP just got home, sent him straight out with the bleach etc, he came in huffing and puffing, FFS what was the point in that.

Turns out while i was putting my shopping away Wheely-Clean man has been round and now my bin is as fresh as a daisy.
Didn't realise i still paid that Blush, he's not been for months.

Grin
KommandantColditz · 15/06/2006 15:42

See, this is why I only out bins out in winter. I have a not unrealistic fear that if I drop the bag in, the air pressure may flick maggots on me, and then I would have to boil myself alive.

Orinoco · 15/06/2006 22:12

eeuuugggh I understand totally where you're coming from. I trod on a snail in my bare feet the other day and had to soak them in antibacterial stuff for ages before I felt they were clean! I did consider bleach but thought that might hurt....
