Fancy dress accessory ideas as birthday present

Hi everyone.
My DD will soon be turning 3 and she is really in to the dressing up corner at nursery.
An idea I had for a present was, rather than getting her 1 or 2 full outfits, get her a box and fill it with different accessories instead. I'm thinking tutu, butterfly wings, wand, bunny ears,...
Can anyone give me any other suggestions as to what I could include?
My thought was by doing this she has more of a variety than just 1 or 2 outfits.

TIA.

It doesn't need to be all girly things. Will be putting a few pirate items in as well.

Hats. Helmets to be fire fighter or road digger, cap for being a train driver, straw hats and cloth hats from charity shop?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/08/2013 18:31

Agree on the hats.

Also animal masks - you can get packets of foam ones quite cheaply in supermarkets.

Pirate eye patch.

Dr stuff, like a stethoscope

Beads, bangles, rings

Bags

Sword and shield (this is one of DD's favourites)

Chef hat and apron

Gloves

Ikea used to do good dressing up hats very cheaply - definitely worth a look.

A few big pieces of fabric to turn into cloaks, magic carpets, robes, whatever?

A wizard's hat and a magic wand?

Old scarves (I'm thinking more like woven scarves than knitted, woolly ones!) can be very useful for making headdresses, sashes etc. Or random off-cuts of material for capes etc.

DameFanny · 11/08/2013 19:10

Oh, and an old leather belt for being a pirate - worn over one shoulder to put the cutlass in

LoveBeingItsABoy · 11/08/2013 19:14

Pink tutus in sports direct for 2.99 at the moment.

ShoeWhore · 11/08/2013 19:18

We have some capes that have proved really flexible - a red generic superhero one and a brown hooded one that's done service as a Jedi cape, Harry Potter gown etc

YY to hats as well.

Shoes in different colours. Old handbags. Long socks (can be worn on arms as well)

elQuintoConyo · 11/08/2013 19:29

Plastic bead necklaces (hmm, 3 may be too young?), Dame Edna-style glasses, hawaiian skirts and flowers, some joke glasses with fake nose and moustache, props such as fishing rod, Dr's kit (mentioned above, I think), clip-on tie, knapsack...

elQuintoConyo · 11/08/2013 19:31

A friend actually did this for her dd's 5th birthday: old suitcase filled with a stack of dress up stuff and random fun clothes from charity shop - all the kids played dress up and ate cake! Twas great.

Wow.
Thank you all so much, you have really helped. Grin

old big lacy petticoats

scout charity shops as you can often pick things up for 10-20p etc. pound shops often have police hats/ cowboy hats etc and acessories.
